Are there any drawbacks to not setting up Kia Connect?

Our new Niro will be often parked at a marina for 2-3 weeks at a period, leading to the deactivation of the connect services, requiring a hard reset of the head unit. I am not interested in using the phone-to-car communication feature, do not have remote parking, and will likely use Android Auto for navigation. Therefore, I am inclined to skip setting this up. Does the automobile get updates for anything other than navigation and maps?

Connecting a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) may not provide significant benefits, since its primary use is for electric vehicles (EVs).

The Kia Navigation system and real-time traffic feature do not depend on a connection, since the vehicle is equipped with a built-in SIM card.

I am able to monitor my car's location, lock and unlock it, and check whether it is locked. It also records the highest speed, which might potentially impact insurance claims.

Today, my partner informed me that we had left the 'left front window' open. However, when checking, I discovered that the right-hand side front (driver's) window was really open by 1/2 inch. This raises concerns about the accuracy of the sat nav instructions if it can't differentiate between left and right.

My spouse is visiting her son in a city known for barcodes this weekend. It's a little riverfront community with just one prominent football club that has high aspirations, unlike Norwich. Yesterday, she texted me while I was doing basic inspections on her Hyundai as I had promised to do while she was out. Her 'Bluelink' application, similar to KIA Connect, alerted her that her automobile was not secured.

After I had moved a considerable distance from the vehicle, I read the message and was certain that I had locked it. However, I decided it was wise to double-check, since life would be unbearable if, heaven forbid, she came back to discover an empty garage! The vehicle was locked, but I checked each door handle, hood, and trunk opening to confirm.

The 'Bluelink' feature, similar to 'KIA Connect,' has limited functionalities in non-electric vehicles but may send early alerts of potential criminal activity even when the car and owner are over 300 miles away. The automotive industry has been slow to adopt technology that has long been used in aeroplanes, yet we are now closer than ever to achieving autonomous automobiles. Considering the basic technology now available to engineers at leading automobile manufacturers, the possibilities are uncertain. An efficient autonomous vehicle is as distant as economically viable nuclear fusion and a genuine general artificial intelligence. Dealing with the challenges of image processing in driving, together with the many failure possibilities of sensors, has not been adequately addressed in current driverless algorithms.
