Carbon fibre engine bay trim for the first generation of vehicles

I have always considered carbon trim in the engine bay to be aesthetically appealing, but is it worthwhile to go through the trouble of searching for a pre-owned set if your vehicle does not come equipped with it?
What would be its inherent worth?

Are you inquiring about the value of incorporating carbon fibre into the engine compartment? In my opinion, the investment is justified since it enhances the engine compartment with a more distinctive and unique appearance. Typically, I see that used sets on eBay are priced at about $3,000.

Highly worthwhile - I maintained almost all original equipment manufacturer components (with the exception of the V8 FSI emblem, which is from Audi but not specifically from a R8 model). The OEM product exhibits the correct alignment of the weave, resulting in a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Everything is from R8Stuff, of course πŸ˜ƒ

I concur with slingshot and R8-stuff. During my search last year, I saw many listings on eBay with prices hovering around $3,000. Currently, there is just a single item available for purchase on eBay.

The presence of carbon in the engine compartment greatly enhances its aesthetic appeal, making it far more distinctive. Is it accurate to say that the trim differs between DCT and manual versions in both the facelift and pre-facelift cars?

I was attempting to remove the rear X brace in order to paint it, and I was uncertain about how to remove the carbon trim. There are three bolts positioned above the carbon trim that secure another piece of trim. However, it seems like the bolt is just passing through.

I posted a request on Facebook but had no responses, so I decided to search on autotrader for inexpensive automobiles that already have the desired feature installed.
The first individual I approached was willing to engage in a barter arrangement in addition to providing some monetary compensation.

There is a significant contrast between night and day when it comes to cars, in my opinion. As others have said, it really enhances the appearance of the engine compartment when lifting the back deck. Enhances with a remarkable and impressive element.

I agree with R8 Stuff's statement that finding a "high-quality, pristine, and intact collection" for less than 3K is quite difficult.

Wishing you success in your pursuit. Another query to pose is: what is the expense of partly or fully refinishing a subpar set?

I recently dedicated a few hours on tidying and installing it. There is a little amount of rust on the metal gauze that need care, but other than that, it seems to be in excellent condition.
Definitely not Β£3,000 either.

My vehicle is reputed to have the most exceptional carbon setup in the engine compartment. The whole expenditure amounted to around $250, and the entire duration of the project spanned approximately 6 weeks.

Furthermore, did Matt's performance complete the whole set?
