  1. I upgraded the warranty to a 2-year term. The local Mercedes-Benz dealer has not reached out to me in 2 days, leading me to suspect a potentially significant problem. If necessary, I would purchase another B Class automobile to use my legal right to return the current one. I am worried that a vehicle experiencing a significant gearbox problem at 2 years old may not be dependable by the time it reaches 10 years old, which is typically how long I like to keep my cars.
  2. I purchased a pre-owned Mercedes B Class, B200, AMG that is two years old online from a prominent Mercedes Dealership in England. When the automobile was delivered, it emitted an unusual noise when the engine was idle. A trusted local garage, not affiliated with Mercedes, conducted a vehicle health inspection. They commented: A loud noise is heard while the automobile is moving slowly, indicating an internal issue inside the gearbox that has to be addressed by a dealer. I contacted Mercedes about the warranty. They said that it probably wouldn't be covered by warranty and I would need to pay GBP 150 for them to inspect it. Subsequently, I attempted to resolve this issue with the dealer located 200 miles away, thus, I drove the vehicle small distances on local roads. The banging intensified, first only occurring while I was decelerating when the engine was running at a standstill. It began even at speeds below 30 mph. The dealership recommended contacting roadside help. The roadside assistance recommended promptly bringing the automobile to Mercedes. The vehicle has been in my local Mercedes Dealership for 2 days, however they have not given any updates. I consider a problem with the gearbox to be significant and probably costly to repair. I typically retain my vehicles for 10-12 years and I'm questioning whether I should anticipate that this automobile will not last for that duration. Would you want to retain the automobile if the issue can be fixed, or would you prefer to return it to the dealership and search for a new car without any known problems?
  3. My 2015 V8 vehicle, equipped with the S tronic gearbox, has accumulated a mileage of 34,000 miles. Approximately 1,000 miles ago, while travelling from San Diego to Los Angeles, I had an issue where the engine excessively revved when attempting to transition from first to second gear automatically. Despite my attempt to manually shift using the shift paddle, the second gear failed to engage. I had the automobile sent to the Audi dealership, where they conducted a thorough examination and found no problem codes. Additionally, during their test drive, they saw that the gearbox was functioning properly. Subsequently, I covered around 900 miles without encountering any issues with the vehicle until this month, when I had four further instances of the inability to enter second gear. From my observations of those four occurrences, I have discovered that by turning off the engine and allowing both the engine and gearbox to cool for a duration of time, which might vary from 20 minutes to overnight, the issue will resolve on its own. The vehicle will resume regular operation, provided that I only drive for short durations, such as less than 30-45 minutes. It seems that the issue is really linked to temperature, since the vehicle operates properly for a period of time following a specific event, until the engine and gearbox have adequately cooled down. After doing an extensive search on the site, I discovered a limited number of discussions about issues with the S tronic gearbox. Therefore, I kindly request any recommendations on the potential problem or, alternatively, the most effective approach to investigating the issue in the absence of error codes. Thank you for taking the time to read.
  4. Best idea is to purchase a decent quality conditioner and use at least every few months. Regularly moisturising the leather helps mitigate cracking, however eventual deterioration is sometimes unavoidable.
  5. Greetings, The battery I purchased from Tanya Batteries around 15 months ago is no longer compatible with the start/stop function. The charger was correctly replaced and reinstalled without any issues. The car has reached its optimal operating temperature and all conditions necessary for the start/stop function to activate have been fulfilled. However, the MOT system is still not functioning. Retrieved real-time data, indicating a state of charge (SOC) of 65.1% and a voltage of 12.6 volts. Verified the functionality of the alternator and saw a voltage output of 14.6 volts. I believe that the battery's capacity has diminished, which may be covered by the guarantee. Contacted Tanya and received an immediate response, although... To fulfil the requirement, you must dispatch it to them, ensuring it is packaged in a manner that meets their specifications. Additionally, a fee of £20 must be paid, and you should anticipate a minimum waiting period of 5 days. They claim that if they are able to correctly charge the battery, then the guarantee will be void. They made an effort to assist by recommending the purchase of an identical battery and thereafter sending the defective one for warranty. However, in the absence of a guarantee, I would own two batteries and be required to spend the whole amount along with an additional £20. I get that to some extent, however the many manipulations, customised packing, and prolonged waiting period are all factors that complicate the situation. In retrospect, I regret not investing a little more amount at a brick-and-mortar garage that may have expedited the warranty process. When just the OBD port was active, the voltage decreased to 12.4 volts and the state of charge (SOC) plummeted to 64% within a short period of time. The automobile exhibits no significant problem as it consistently starts immediately, regardless of low temperatures or extended periods of inactivity. I decided to test the warranty. What are your opinions on the necessary SOC (State of Charge) levels for the operation of a start/stop system? What are your opinions and personal experiences about warranties?
  6. For your specific model of Insignia, there are several timing kits and other related components available. This is due to the limited production of the Insignia B, which has resulted in some parts being rare. During a conversation with a technician acquaintance, I was informed that the producers of timing belt kits had recalled a significant number of them owing to a fault. The belts exhibited elongation when exposed to high temperatures, resulting in evident slippage and subsequent loss of synchronisation. The cost for replacing the timing belt is set at £449. Additionally, they recommended replacing the drive belt after 35 units, with no extra charges for work. I cannot recall the specific term she used for the water pump, but it was priced in the hundreds. After consulting with an independent garage, I have discovered that the water pump operates separately from the timing belt, as Drew previously said. The service has been scheduled for a total cost of £389, which includes the cost of labour. Thank you for the guidance, gentlemen.
  7. Greetings, individuals. It has been a considerable duration since I last made a post on this forum. I own a 2018 sports tourer equipped with a 2.0 diesel engine. 170 brake horsepower I am have significant difficulty in locating a timing belt and water pump kit. The only establishment where I have received a quotation is from Vauxhall, amounting to a staggering £1260, inclusive of labour costs, even after using my service discount. I have explored all the conventional locations.
