Is the tailboard opened or closed by pressing and holding for an extended period of time?

Greetings, everyone.

I own a 2020 X3, my first BMW, and it seems that the only method to operate the tailboard using the key buttons is by continuously pressing and holding the button. Is there a method to reprogram that feature to enable a single push instead of requiring a continuous hold?

I have familiarised myself with the application BimmerCode and similar options, but I am curious whether there exists a more straightforward solution?

Thank you everyone, I am pleased to be here!

Hello, I am unable to provide a straight response to your question about reprogramming. However, I strongly advise you to carefully consider the consequences before proceeding. Are you really willing to risk the possibility of a single unintended button push in your pocket causing your car's hatch to open, especially if you are within range but unable to see your car?

Thank you for the replies- I previously had a Discovery Sport, which unfortunately stopped working. It had a one push feature that was always reliable, so I wanted to recreate it for convenience and familiarity. If anybody has completed this task, I would very appreciate hearing about your own experience.

The Bimmercode application in its demonstration mode offers the feature to shut without requiring a prolonged push. Perhaps the option to unlock is only accessible for certain automobiles.

I used the BimmerCode application, but, I did not come across that specific choice inside the programme.
I own two black mambas and one brown mamba, both of which have similar lengths. The duration of pressing the brown mamba is somewhat less than that of the black mambas, but still longer than the doors.

The Boss's new Discovery 5 has a lengthy press mechanism for opening and closing the tailboard, which cannot be operated while the engine is running. It is somewhat bothersome when I am scattering wild bird food around the outskirts of fields to keep birds away from the main area, and I have to interrupt my progress every 50 yards or so for a distance of almost 5 kilometres.
