  1. Even though I have my doubts about their success rate, I also know that some of them will keep going. Even though my hearing isn't perfect, my 2009 E91 320D has reached 192k without any issues, and I haven't heard a rattle as of yet. I'm still deciding whether to keep the car or sell it. If I'm going to keep it for a few more years, I might as well get it done so I can rest easy. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the AB Auto Repairs shop in Chard, which is close by and appears to have done a number of N47 chains.

  3. Greetings, pal. I am aware that Group 1 is currently running a timing chain offer for £1500 (including VAT). Almost made me decide to keep driving instead of taking the plunge. I can't wait to enjoy my 420d for many years on the road. It's a sturdy vehicle with a huge trunk. Do you have a vehicle?

  5. Hello, I have researched the N47 timing chain extensively on various forums. Never used stop-start, and my 420D Xdrive GC 2014(64) has a complete BMW service history. Been the owner for three and a half years. I am protected under the insured warranty of my BMW in the event that anything were to happen to the chain—which it has never experienced. Have you any ideas?
  6. Hi everyone I've been looking at a 2020 Mercedes V-Class they've got advertised. Found this thread while searching the company name. Not saying I'm convinced yet, but at least there are some sensible questions being asked here rather than twenty replies saying either "SCAM!!!" or "100% LEGIT MATE" with no explanation.
  7. That one is great, too. Could you tell me the name of the manufacturer of the kit, chain, and sprockets? We only have to rule out a few things. Just like Mike mentioned earlier, we also need to consider the end caps, which are BMW terminology for rectangular rings.
  8. Would you like me to confirm if you only had the chain replaced or if you also had the guides, vanos sprockets, and everything else?
  9. The mesh may have collapsed and partially obstructed it, or perhaps the oil solenoid has failed. Someone or something connected to the common 12v (orange wire) supply might be at fault. Another possible cause is an internal breakdown of the vanos sprocket or a stretched chain that is not up to specification. Could you please tell me the mileage and whether the timing of the TC replacement with a complete OE/OEM kit was considered?
  10. Hi For a variety of ride heights, consider standard lowering springs for your vehicle. Checking the spring pads is another possibility; I've seen versions where the springs were the same but the pads under them were of varying sizes (but don't take my word for it). This allows you to drop between 5–15 mm while maintaining the same level of ride quality.
  11. Holy cow, I couldn't believe the unexpected symptoms weren't worse. It never crossed my mind to compare the old with the new when I was working nonstop. With 183k, I'm assuming these were either originally installed or replaced earlier?
  12. There is no smoke when I drive my ancient 3.0D, which has 200k miles on the odometer. After 90k miles, it's just run in, and changing the oil every 6-7k or 12 months will increase its performance by a factor of three or four.
  13. I am not asserting anything, however it has been previously documented that some individuals have experienced problems with wires chafing against injector pipes. It is not uncommon for an injector to malfunction electronically, resulting in the symptoms you are experiencing.
  14. Examine the condition of your injector wiring to ensure it is not frayed against any objects. Additionally, examine the resistance of your injector; I bet you will discover one that significantly deviates from the others.
  15. A hairline fracture in the expansion tank may be present, becoming apparent only when the engine is heated; I experienced this issue with my E46.
  16. Thank you for the information. Has all the fluid been depleted, and is the bleeding process straightforward?
  17. I am quite apprehensive about driving. Are there any online manuals available for their replacement? I could not find anything on YouTube for the F30 or F31 models.
  18. I suspected as much; is this how they typically begin to malfunction?
  19. Issue with F31 2014 2.0d After a cold start, I drove to the end of the road, halted at an intersection, but the clutch pedal became loose and lacked pressure, preventing me from engaging any gear. I manually lifted the clutch pedal and promptly regained pressure, enabling me to shift gears and continue driving for approximately a mile as if no issues existed. I am somewhat concerned it may be permanent, but I hope it is really an isolated incident. Is anyone aware of what this issue might be, or has anyone experienced a similar situation that required repair? Thank you
  20. Both are commendable; nevertheless, the six-cylinder 430d is in a distinct category. Efficient, rapid, and only little less fuel-efficient. For me, the driving experience is far superior with the six-cylinder diesel engine. Salutations
