  1. The weight difference between the ML and the CLS SB is barely 10%, hence it is unlikely that there would be any issues. To the best of my knowledge, if the diameters and offsets are similar, the wheel dimensions should also be identical, resulting in them being the same. I will determine the similarity of the wheel bosses' thickness by comparing a wheel bolt from the CLS with a wheel bolt from the ML. If the bolts have the same length, it would suggest that the wheel bosses are of same thickness. With the exception of forged wheels, which are distinct, the sole difference between AMG and non-AMG wheels is in their design; they are all manufactured using the same method, as far as I know. There is one minor difference in addition to the offsets: the ML wheel bolts are fastened at 150 nm, whilst the CLS is fastened to 130 nm. I am curious about the reason for it, and does it have any significance?
  2. Actually, the wheels are fairly wide - measuring 9.5 inches. Although I have a preference for the others, I would not be considering replacing them if the tires on the vehicle were not deteriorated.
  3. The 2007 ML63 did not come with staggered wheels as standard equipment, as stated in the Owner's Manual produced in 2006. My vehicle also does not have staggered wheels; instead, it is equipped with AMG VI wheels measuring 9.5 x 19, which are similar to the rear wheels of the CLS model but with a slightly different offset of 2mm. Curiously, the staggered-setup rear wheels offered by Alloy Wheels Direct are all 9.5 x 19 in size, with a 56 mm offset.
  4. I share the same opinion; both the clothes and the automobile are outdated, and I am as well...
  5. I am OK with the 19" wheels since I do not need a stiffer ride, and I believe they are proportionate to the W164 model. I also have a preference for simple wheels. I am not fond of intricate designs and find the wheels often used on modern electric vehicles to be unattractive. I favour a minimalist and elegant style; I believe that simplicity is more impactful. I plan to install these:
  6. If I decide to retain the ML63, which seems probable, I believe it would be advisable to replace the wheels - authentic AMG, measuring 19 x 9.5J with a 46mm offset (previously refurbished once, but the quality of the refurbishment looks subpar based on their appearance and the amount of weight required to balance them). They are not available fresh from any source, save for a single wheel in Poland, priced at about £600 - I am not interested. In terms of style, they are satisfactory, but they do not possess any exceptional qualities according to my own preferences. I am inclined to install a set of four non-AMG tires, namely the same ones that are already on the back of my CLS. I have a strong preference for these tires, even above any of the other AMG alternatives for the 164 model. The dimensions of the wheels are 19 inches in diameter and 9.5 inches in width, with a 48mm offset. I am sceptical about the significance of a 2mm change in offset; does anybody have any contrary information?
  7. Who is doing the ATF service? I would be glad if the location is SPR in Stockport. They upload films on YouTube showcasing a variety of workshop tasks, and he demonstrates great attention to detail. I am not aware of any individuals that do a gearbox flush as part of their gearbox service. If you own the 7-speed gearbox, the price is reasonable.
  8. The battery does not have the responsibility of managing the Stop/Start function. That is mostly a software function. If the Stop/Start function has not been functioning properly in the past, it is likely due to the gradual deterioration of your battery until it ultimately failed.
  9. It is plausible that this might be the underlying reason, and I find it astonishing that a skilled technician would not have inspected all the pulleys, idler wheels, and tensioners for any issues prior to installing a new belt. The crucial aspect of it is the word "competent"!
  10. I believe it was an unexpected proposal to consider flipping the loom over. However, it is important to note that the individual coil connections are designed to be particular in length from back to front, so it would be unlikely for them to be mis-wired on each bank. Nevertheless, if the loom could be inverted, this possibility should be explored. Uncertain about the other components included in the loom portions that supply the coils - if there are connections for other equipment, it is quite improbable, but it does provoke curiosity!
  11. It is not expected to see a spark on the inflow valve. Both valves should be closed, and the plug leads should be connected in the right sequence.
  12. The dealership might provide you with information about your predicament. However, I am sceptical since the r171 and r172 are distinct vehicles. Are there any components such as suspension or mechanical parts that are compatible with your car?
  13. If you exceed the appropriate size, the calliper will not be able to fit.
  14. Take a look at this, my friend. https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/das-6-v2-dual-action-polisher
  15. On the r230, fully open the trunk and then click the red button. This will cause the roof to elevate, facilitating the loading process. To shut the roof, ensure that the separator is in the closed position and then hit the red button once again.
  16. Make sure to elevate the boot to its maximum height. If it is not fully elevated, the simple pack function will not operate.
  17. An easypack refers to a kind of packaging that is designed to be simple and convenient to use.
  18. Based on my personal experience, it is more cost-effective to go for a service plan when the subsequent service is of type "B". This way, you will get two "B" services and one "A" service.
  19. Travelling from Glasgow West bound on the M8 to the Erskine Bridge during rush hour is a risky endeavour. It will inevitably extend the trip by a minimum of 45 minutes. However, the advantage is that the route is straightforward. On the other hand, venturing via EK and other unfamiliar roads without prior knowledge might result in much more time being wasted, especially if one gets lost or encounters roadworks. It is advisable to do a traffic assessment upon approaching Glasgow on the day, since the conditions may vary hourly, as seen today by a vehicle overturning on the M8, resulting in its closure.
  20. The M8 will be closed in both directions overnight on the next weekends for bridge work. The specific time of closure at night is unknown, thus it would be advisable to do more inquiry. The M8 has heavy congestion most nights, regardless of the time of travel, resembling a carpark. Consider taking the exit at Junction 5 of the M74 and travelling via East Kilbride, Clarkston, Nitshill, and Paisley before reaching the M8 and continuing to the Erskine Bridge. This route will allow you to avoid using the M8 through Glasgow completely.
  21. Last night, I saw a captivating documentary on dragonflies, which I find really intriguing. (Slightly off-topic 😉 ) Despite having existed for 300 million years, numerous species in France are facing extinction due to chemical poisoning or habitat degradation. It would be tragic to lose such magnificent beings.
  22. Unfortunately, the situation is same here as well.
  23. Out of curiosity, does the automobile have a complete multi-body structural health?
  24. This seems really peculiar to me. A Mercedes-Benz dealer may provide a new key that is specifically programmed for the automobile, without the need to disassemble the vehicle.
  25. Prior to starting the vehicle, verify the voltage of both the newly installed auxiliary battery and the primary battery. A completely charged lead acid battery typically registers a voltage of 12.6 volts or higher. However, if you have an AGM battery, which I believe is the case, the voltage reading may be much higher.
