I just purchased a vehicle from Newtownards Transport and I am a little anxious has anyone used them?

Hello everyone

I just bought a Toyota Hilux Invincible from Belfast-based Newtownards Transport. It was described as an ex-finance repossession that had just been purchased at auction when I saw it offered on eBay

Although the price wasn't very low, it was still less than what I had seen elsewhere, so I decided to buy it. It should arrive in about a week, they said. Before I received and approved the car, the money was deposited into a company account they referred to as a "segregated account."

Everything seemed great at the time, but now that the money has been sent, I'm beginning to second-guess myself a little.

Has anybody here ever dealt with them or done anything similar?

Regards!

I can see why you're feeling that way since there are a lot of questionable postings available these days, making it difficult to ignore them after the fact.
If they are really utilising a holding account of any kind, it is already a stronger indication than most. I would still double-check everything, however.

Have you enquired about seeing it for yourself up there? Generally speaking, a business won't object to you seeing or even picking up in person if they have nothing to conceal.
I would get concerned if they attempted to avoid answering the question.

Although I did enquire and spoke with them over the phone, they informed me that I was more than welcome to come up to them. They even provided me with instructions to where they are situated in close proximity to George Best Airport. However, in the end, I was unable to justify the trip, so I decided to go with delivery instead.

I also did some research online and discovered that there were a few individuals who claimed to have used them. However, there was nothing that screamed "avoid," which is what got me to go ahead and use them.

It is still a little odd, but I'm not going to lie about that!

I've worked in the transport and logistics industry for many years, and I've heard of Newtownards Transport previously. From what I've observed, they've been more well-known for moving items than for selling vehicles, but many of these companies have begun to add car sales on the side. This doesn't necessarily imply anything shady.

To be honest I have no issues about the 2022 Mercedes C250 I purchased from Newtownards Transport. Before I paid, they provided me a tonne of pictures and even the V5C doc. It took eight or nine days for it to arrive, but it was in excellent shape.

To be fair, companies like that have a hard time these days, so many fake sites and scams about that even legit ones look suspicious! I had a look at their site out of curiosity, doesn’t look like one of those thrown together overnight jobs, and they’re properly registered as well which is something with all the details matched.

My experience was alright, not perfect

Bought a 2018 Audi A4 from them, the car itself is great mechanically, no complaints there. Only thing was it had a few more marks than I expected from the pictures. Delivery also took a bit longer than they first said, think it ended up being around 11 days

To their credit though, I raised it and they offered me some money towards getting the cosmetic bits sorted, so they didn’t just brush it off!

You got that right! They really handled it like pros, even offering me a full refund and saying they'd swing by to pick up the car from my place. But honestly, with a few dings here and there, it's no skin off my nose. We're talking about a 7 year old ride here, after all!

Bit off topic but I’ve used Newtownards Transport for moving stuff before had them bring a classic arcade machine up from Belfast to Glasgow earlier this year. Handled it properly, packed well, kept me updated the whole way
If they run their car side the same way it doesn’t surprise me people are having decent experiences
