Barringer
Mercedes has discontinued distributing the thermostat for the E270 CDI. Therefore, it is necessary to place an order from Autodoc, since ECP only has the Starline brand available. Do you have a specific preference among Gates, Dayco, Metzger, and Febi Bilstein? CrawlerTagz
Wahler is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Gates should be in a satisfactory condition.
Syncephe
Mahle is satisfactory as well. In all honesty, I believed it to be an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) product. Only the statistic is required, not the housing information.
Syncephe
Additionally, it is worth noting that there are often many options available on eBay.
Barringer
I initially want to install a Mahle thermostat in my vehicle. However, when consulting my Mercedes-Benz specialist during the car's recent pickup, I was informed that they lack the expertise to install the thermostat in the housing, as they have only ever used original equipment manufacturer (OEM) thermostats with the housing. Autodoc offers Mahle products individually, however they do not have Mahle products with the corresponding housing.
Barringer
If they have Wahler, I may choose that option. Thank you!
RosaStyle
A few years ago, I acquired a Wahle stat for the C200 from Autodoc. Excellent product .... There are no issues... The pricing is also excellent. The one I removed was of same manufacture and kind.
Syncephe
If a somebody claiming to be a "mechanic" informed me of this, I would be inclined to seek the services of a different mechanic. To be frank? It is an uncomplicated task. Previously, there was a lack of effort in altering the housing, which was an imprudent use of funds.
Kenjibb
What is the specific component number for the MB?
Barringer
I am uncertain, but I contacted them via phone and they informed me that they had discontinued distributing the product in both the UK and Germany. My Mercedes-Benz expert received the same information.
Kenjibb
It is advisable to locate the MB reference number first and then do an online search for a high-quality aftermarket component or an authentic MB New Old Stock (NOS) part. You may have a fortunate outcome.
Captiva
I installed authentic MB parts, although I would have chosen Febi if they had not been accessible. I purchased the housing, which includes the temperature sensor and gasket.
CrawlerTagz
Authentic thermostats for MB are no longer being produced.
Kenjibb
What are the reasons for choosing Febi vs MB? In my experience, the quality of Febi products might be unpredictable. Febi has a somewhat poor reputation on most MB boards. Fortunately, I had the good fortune of finding Febi flex discs. Initially, I intended to return the items since I had specifically requested Lemfoerder. However, when seeing that they were manufactured by SGF, my trust in their quality was restored. Captiva
I have a preference for authentic Mercedes-Benz parts when it comes to most engine and gearbox components. The chassis components consist of Lemforder and Brembo parts for the brakes, while Febi parts are used for occasional filters and other miscellaneous items. These components have been reliable without any issues. My mechanic utilises some Febi components. He used to work as a diagnostic trainer for Mercedes.
