I need your counsel.

The age of my Mercedes CL203 C230 V6 Auto Sports Coupe is 18 years. The mileage is merely 56,000 miles. The engine is excellent. The telephone module has an electrical problem that causes the battery to drain within three days if the vehicle is not driven. Additionally, the wireless unlocking feature does not function properly, while the infrared unlock on the key works correctly. I need a new automobile due to significant life circumstances.

The dilemma at hand is whether I should sell the automobile in order to get the most amount of money for it.

1. Is it possible to purchase anything privately, without any modifications, for a certain amount?
2. to a store similar to webuyanycar?
3. Should I go directly to a scrap merchant?

What is your opinion?

Have you received a quotation from WBAC or Motorway / Car Wow?

The estimated scrap value ranges from around £200 to £250, as I would anticipate.

What are the current prices of items being sold on eBay?

What is the optimal price that AT is offering for it?

Do you have a preference for interacting with the broader public, including those who may be interested in purchasing this automobile at its current price point, considering that it is not intended as a first car for a son or daughter? Additionally, how urgently do you need to replace your current car? Are there any specific life circumstances or compelling reasons that need a prompt change?

While it undoubtedly has its merits in terms of sound quality and performance, this vehicle does have some drawbacks. It tends to use a quite large amount of fuel, and the tax expenses associated with it are not the most affordable. Additionally, it is starting to show signs of ageing, which may limit the level of local interest if you decide to sell it independently.

Obtaining a WBAC type quotation independently is a simple task, however it is probable that the price will be reduced to some extent throughout the evaluation process.

The scrap value will be little.

In my opinion, you would likely get the most value for it by creating a truthful advertisement as said before. Perhaps list it for a price range of £500-1000 and assess the response. Potential buyers can always submit offers, and you are aware of the minimum value based on quotations from scrap or WBAC.

The CL203 is prone to a well-documented wireless malfunction, specifically related to water entering the amplifier/receiver located in the boot. Regrettably, it is connected to the back screen and necessitates the installation of a new screen:Oops:
Currently, there are establishments that can remove the amplifier without replacing the glass, but this service is expensive regardless of the method chosen.

The power depletion may also be correlated with it.

Despite the low mileage of your automobile, it is within the spectrum of vehicles affected by balancer shaft troubles, which will significantly reduce its potential value in a private sale.

In my opinion, I would list it on eBay as a classified advertisement for £995, without any room for negotiation, emphasising its sporting characteristics. The car's 200 horsepower is rather impressive. Additionally, it is compliant with the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) requirements.

Alternatively, if you choose not to pursue that option, I would recommend seeking out a specialised Mercedes dismantler and negotiating a price higher than the standard scrap value for your vehicle.

Attempting to get anything farther will just result in unnecessary aggression.

I would get a quotation from Autotrader. They provide a more competitive pricing compared to webuyanycar. Engaging in private sales may sometimes prove to be a futile endeavour, as it entails dealing with potential buyers who visit to inspect the vehicle, express a desire to test drive it, pose trivial inquiries about the comprehensive service history of a roughly two-decade-old automobile, and ultimately cease all communication without explanation.

Bring it to your nearby Demolition Derby. It is preferable to exit in a spectacular and triumphant manner rather than deteriorating gradually on someone's driveway.

I attempted to undergo a WBAC evaluation with my CLK240 (2004) and found no flaws. Despite being a well-functioning vehicle, it did not match their specific requirements. It seems that they purchase every automobile except for mine.

Thank you for the information. That information regarding the amp/receiver is very fascinating.
After a few years of ownership, Merc performed a certified engine rebuild specifically targeting the balancer shaft. Since then, there have been no issues with it.

I will definitely discuss the matter thoroughly with Merc breakers to get their perspective. The engine is essentially half as old as the automobile.

I am now confronted with the same dilemma about my twenty-year-old C200cdi. During the last MOT, the vehicle received concerning warnings about corrosion in the rear subframe and brake lines. Due to the upcoming MOT and the high likelihood of it failing, I have decided to purchase a BMW i3 120 Ah, which I will be acquiring on Tuesday. I have decided to donate the W203 to the local fire department specifically for the purpose of training. The dealer from whom I am purchasing the item informed me that it would only have a scrap value of around £150, which I had previously guessed. Additionally, I would be required to pay the expenses associated with transporting it to Citizen Khan's location. The fire department will use it effectively, and there is a possibility that it might perhaps prevent a loss of life. An wonderful conclusion for a superb automobile.

On the other hand...

The 'Scrap My Car' website provided a value of £272, which would be sufficient to purchase a pre-owned TaylorMade Stealth driver. I am now faced with the task of making a selection.
