Lane trace assist (LTA) problems

The unsettling sensation of the steering wheel abruptly pulling to one side—likely caused by Lane Trace Assist (LTA) erroneously assuming the car is drifting off course—is something that other Mk II C-HR drivers have reported.

In my Mk I C-HR, this happened very seldom, but in my 2026 Mk II, it happens frequently on the same roads. It usually goes off on curves or unmarked parts of the road. Even though it's nothing to be worried about on familiar roads, the sudden steering corrections on unfamiliar roads can make you feel like you've lost control for a second.

I brought this up during a recent service with my dealer, but they chose not to comment on it. So, I'm not sure if they looked into it and found nothing wrong, or if it's just the system's normal behavior.

Is anyone else finding that the LTA system on the Mk II is more sensitive or makes more drastic steering corrections?

I have a 2022 Mk1, and I've always had the impression that it's a bit risky, particularly when I'm attempting to back out of a parking spot after crossing the white line.

Unless I'm on an expressway or an unobstructed three-lane highway, I usually avoid using the LTA in my 2024 PHEV.
When I'm commuting in the city, I disable it.
It remains passively operational, but you are in control of it.

Especially when combined with Adaptive Cruise Control, its pinpoint accuracy as I drove down the M1 from Doncaster for the first time was mind-blowing.

Unless I'm on a highway, I don't think it's smart enough to manage narrow or single-lane roads, much less heavy, congested traffic in London.

Even though it's switchable, my Mk1 still does it every time I start the engine.
