  1. It is probable that the problem has been caused by the software downgrade. I have had several instances of such occurrences involving subpar performance and abysmal fuel efficiency after the software downgrade. Upon taking my vehicle in for the airbag recall, I explicitly informed the customer care representative and then sent them an email to clarify my preference of not making any changes to the software. They verified that this was OK. Upon delivering the automobile, I took the initiative to verify once again that no software modifications would be made. Surprisingly, they had no documentation of my previous refusal, but assured me that it was OK to decline the software upgrade. I ensured that they explicitly documented on the service sheet that no modifications to the programme were to be done. In addition, I covered the OBD port with adhesive tape and attached a written message instructing others not to interact with it. I am quite certain that they made no alterations. Only the airbag recall was performed. At a temperature of 196K, it is quite likely that the diesel particulate filter (DPF) is significantly filled and may need removal and cleaning. Over time, DPFs tend to get obstructed. My vehicle is a C250 with the same engine. Typically, I can go around 450 miles on a full tank of petrol. However, I must admit that I like to drive with enthusiasm rather than focusing on fuel efficiency. If the gearbox is retaining the gears for an extended period of time after the software modification, doing a gearbox reset might be beneficial and straightforward to execute. May or may not have an impact. To reset the gearbox of a W204 vehicle, search for instructions on Google. Wishing you success and favourable outcomes.
  2. Admirable, devoid of envy as well 😬
  3. If you possess proficiency in using a multimeter, the task at hand involves inspecting each individual fuse. I recommend perusing the topic, as there are abundant threads available here and on YouTube that provide guidance on how to do this. An alternative, more expedient method would be to bring the automobile to a nearby independent Mercedes-Benz specialist for a STAR diagnostic. If you are certain that the issue lies with the battery, proceed with replacing it. However, it is advisable to first examine the output from the alternator. Ensure that it registers a voltage of 14 volts or more when the engine is running. The persistent issue of battery drainage in an MB is rather vexing.
  4. Do you not have a battery drain issue? If you want to replace the battery and the new one loses power, it is necessary to have the automobile inspected more thoroughly.

  6. It occurs. It would be beneficial to have some photographs.
  7. Thank you for the guidance. I will personally do the task. I am aware of my concern on the matter.
  8. Additionally, is it advisable to bring a convertible vehicle with a soft top to a car wash when there are attendants present? Not a drive-through establishment. I do not own a jet washer myself.
  9. Do you continuously operate the air conditioning system? Is the air conditioning functional? Is there any moisture present on the front carpets or in the wheel well of the boot? Does the automobile only do short trips, so preventing the air conditioning system from adequately removing moisture? Apply gummi care to all the door and trunk seals. Inspect all the drainage openings on the front windscreen. Has the pollen filter been changed within the last several years? Verify that there is no water flowing down the windscreen scuttle and into the area where the pollen filter connects with the bulkhead in the engine bay.
