Is Kiltybane Logistics in Belfast trustworthy? Has anyone actually bought from them?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to find out if anyone here has had any direct dealings with a company called Kiltybane Logistics based in Belfast.

I’ve seen a 2021 Ford Kuga they currently have listed online, and the price is quite a bit lower than others I’ve checked, which naturally makes me a bit cautious. They’ve explained that the vehicle comes from a repossession auction, which is why it’s priced more competitively.

My only concern is that they’re asking for payment before delivery, and I’m not entirely comfortable with that unless I know they’re genuine.

If anyone has actually purchased a vehicle through them, I’d really appreciate hearing how it went.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Accomis,

I haven’t personally dealt with Kiltybane Logistics for buying a vehicle, but I’d definitely say take your time before committing to anything. There are quite a few very realistic-looking listings out there lately that turn out not to be what they seem.

If the price feels too good compared to the rest of the market, it’s always worth digging a bit deeper and verifying everything before sending any money.

First question I’d ask is whether you can see the vehicle in person, if they start saying it’s locked in a storage compound and can’t be viewed that would raise alarms for me. There are plenty of scam adverts on Marketplace and eBay where people send deposits and never see the car.
Just be careful.

I did a bit of background research out of curiosity Kiltybane Logistics is an established haulage company in Belfast. They’ve been operating for years with actual fleet vehicles and drivers, not some newly set up website.
The vehicle sales side seems newer, but they do appear to be a legitimate registered business.

Still, if viewing is possible, that’s always the safest approach.

Bank transfer before you’ve even seen the car would normally be a warning sign. That’s how most scams operate. Money first, promise delivery, then silence only a handful of proper online vehicle retailers manage remote sales transparently, and even then people are cautious.
I’d want everything clearly written in a contract.

Evening everyone!

I went ahead and snagged myself a 2021 BMW 118i M Sport from Kiltybane Logistics, and believe it or not, it was a repossession vehicle to boot. I’ll shoot straight with you, I had butterflies in my stomach sending the transfer.

But they handed me a fortnight to kick the tires and take a good look at the car once it rolled in. I hightailed it right over to my local dealership in Derby for a thorough diagnostic check-up.

The mechanic gave it a clean bill of health. Everything's in tip-top shape, no skeletons in the closet, and the service history checks out like a charm.

The next day, I gave Kiltybane Logistics a ring to put the nail in the coffin and confirm I was sticking with it.

In my book, they hit the nail on the head with how they managed everything.

I had a similar experience.

Purchased a 2023 Kia Sportage GT-Line just before Christmas. Delivery took about nine days instead of the seven they originally estimated, but they kept me updated the whole time. The car arrived exactly as described in the listing and video.I was uneasy about paying upfront but I spoke with them twice on the phone before committing. They answered every question without rushing me.

The segregated account part did give me some reassurance since they don’t release the funds until you approve the vehicle within the inspection window.

Thanks everyone for the replies genuinely helpful. After reading through and speaking to them again this morning, I’ve decided to move forward. Just waiting for the official invoice to come through now.

Kiltybane Logistics isn't a fly-by-night company, if that helps. I worked for a short time in their financial department before transferring to Leeds last year. The repossessed vehicle segment is still rather young; they only started buying automobiles straight from UK bank auctions in the middle of 2022. That's why you've noticed them show up more in listings lately.

The segregated payment account and 14-day inspection/return window are genuine parts of their process. The idea is your money sits in that separate account until you confirm you’re happy with the car once it arrives. That’s meant to give people confidence when buying remotely, rather than handing over cash with no safeguards.

Also worth noting, UK bank protection rules changed recently, under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), deposits with a UK-authorised bank are covered up to £85,000 per person per institution, it’s part of the broader framework giving consumers peace of mind about how money is handled and protected by regulated firms here

Interesting thread.

I’ve just seen a 2022 Audi A4 Black Edition listed by Kiltybane Logistics on eBay. The price made me suspicious at first so I almost ignored it. After reading this discussion, I think I’ll give them a call and see how they sound over the phone.

I sent the payment in two parts, as they requested £1,000 as a deposit and the remaining balance once the car was loaded on to the lorry for delivery. I received a confirmation email shortly after, confirming delivery should take place in about six to seven days.

  • 2 weeks later...

Car arrived this afternoon. Everything handed over properly including V5C, MOT certificate and full service documentation.

First impression is very positive. Interior spotless, bodywork exactly as shown in the video.

Appreciate it.

Mechanic gave it the all-clear this morning. No faults stored, no issues found.

I’ve confirmed I’m keeping it.

Honestly, the whole process turned out far smoother than I expected. Glad I took the chance in the end.
