AmericaMonster
I have just acquired a meticulously maintained e250 CDI w212 Blue Efficiency estate to replace my c200 CDI Blue Efficiency w204, as we are anticipating the arrival of our third kid and want a larger vehicle. My father, a technician with over 40 years of experience, and I examined the vehicle and identified that the only issue was the significantly increased engine noise during acceleration compared to my previous C200 CDI. The engine had a pronounced grumble during acceleration. Is this typical? Aside from the loudness, the engine performs well and accelerates powerfully. Additionally, all sound deadening materials are intact.
Angurita
The C250 I had, equipped with the identical OM651 engine, exhibited a little rattle at idle with 79,000 miles, however delivered exceptional smoothness while accelerating. Two turbochargers interconnected on the 250. Your only 200. Is an oil change necessary? Examine the air filter and conduits as well.
AmericaMonster
Every 6,000 miles or 12 months, the vehicle had servicing, so I presume it is in good condition. The pipes and air filter were inspected by my father during the car's examination. Consequently, it is quite perplexing.
VibrantShin
Has the exhaust system undergone any modifications?
Samuraisaint
It would be beneficial to ascertain which end of the vehicle is emitting the growling sound. There is little use in investigating exhaust noise when it is generated by induction, and vice versa.
Notef
They may have a rather gruff demeanour. My vehicle has 135,000 miles yet accelerates powerfully and has consistently emitted a little grumble. However, the gearbox mount may deteriorate over time. The gearbox descends by one or two centimetres and may contact the exhaust. It does not bang or rattle, but it will significantly amplify the engine noise. It is a recognised problem and an inexpensive remedy; the component costs around £50 from Mercedes and requires about 30 minutes to install after the vehicle is elevated on a ramp. I would get it replaced, since it is likely to fail someday.
Bridgenix
Inspect the exhaust for carbonaceous residues. It could be experiencing a leak. A defective flexi at the front may be responsible for this issue.
