Service Plan

I own a 3-year-old 200 AMG line. I have had it for a duration of six months and have driven a total distance of 2000 miles. The system is indicating that an A service is required. I have spoken with the dealer who has provided a quotation of £493.15 for the service, or alternatively, a service plan at a monthly cost of £60 for a duration of two years. The service plan includes the following:

This service is now due and will be followed by a further two years of maintenance. Additionally, you will get three complimentary MOT inspections. Furthermore, we provide free loan vehicle pickup and delivery services.
Terminate at your discretion
Hedging against inflation

Could you kindly provide me with advice on whether it would be more cost-effective to pursue this option or to explore alternatives. My place of residence is Chester.

Thank you.

By taking a service plan at this time, you will get two A (minor) services which primarily include an oil and filter change and a thorough inspection of various components, in addition to one B (major) service. In addition, there are other items that need attention during the 4-year service for your diesel automobile, including the fuel filter, air filter, pollen/cabin filter, and brake fluid (which has to be replaced every 2 years according to MB's recommendations). Is a gearbox fluid change included in the service plan as stated in the owner's manual?

In my opinion, the first response would be to approach a local independent service provider that has expertise in handling Star systems and is capable of updating the DSR (digital service record). It would be appropriate to enquire about the cost associated with obtaining the necessary updates. Seeking a recommendation for a reputable independent service provider in or around Chester would be much appreciated.

As already said.

I recommend paying for the next service (year 3 / Service A) in full and thereafter obtaining a service plan to include coverage for year 4 / Service B, as well as additional components, and year 5 / Service A along with ATF. Additionally, it may need a year 6 service and the replacement of brake fluid.

Appears to be costly. I have obtained a 3-year contract with 3 months of service for a monthly fee of £44. You may need to advocate for the gearbox service, since many Mercedes-Benz dealerships may not provide exceptional service. Head office dictates their actions.

In all fairness to the original poster, it seems that he is receiving three services and MOTs, but is paying for them over a span of two years. This is likely because he requires an immediate servicing. Therefore, a payment of £60 over the course of two years does not seem too high.

Indeed, if he is covering the cost of three services, each priced at £60 a month for a duration of two years, the total cost per service amounts to £480, which is very favourable in the context of dealer service.

That price for an A service oil change is somewhat surprising, my friend. Did the pricing include any additional charges or fees?
There is a widespread perception that the cost of the MB service plan has significantly increased in recent times.

In my opinion, the benefit of using MB for maintenance on a relatively new vehicle is their Mobilo service.
I contacted them around 18 to 24 months ago regarding my inability to open the fuel flap on my Mercedes-Benz GLE. The Mobilo staff advised me to take it to a Mercedes-Benz dealership. Upon contacting the dealership, I was informed of a three-week waiting period. I then called Mobilo again, and they sent their mobile service van. It turned out that no replacement part was needed, since the van already had the necessary component, which I purchased for around £40. If I had brought the vehicle to MB, I am certain that the diagnostic charge, as well as the cost of the item and its installation, would have amounted to about 400-500 pounds. Approximately 11 months later, the unit began to exhibit difficulty in opening and sometimes became stuck. Mobilio offered the option of dispatching the RAC service on the same day or the Mobilo service on the next day. The Mobilio was repaired the next day, and the flap opener was replaced once again. I am certain that it has a guarantee that lasts for 24 months.
Following the advice of others, I scheduled a B, A B service for my vehicle's automatic gearbox at the 5-year mark. It helped me save a few pounds, I suppose.
