I concur, but, I have developed a tendency towards indolence and have become used to the vehicle effortlessly unlocking as soon as I approach it, without the need to rummage through my luggage to get the key or remove it from a Faraday pouch. I have only recollected misplacing my luggage in the vehicle on one occasion before, therefore making it an exceedingly rare occurrence. The incident occurred due to the fact that the other half (OH) placed my luggage in the footwell while being a passenger, and I deviated from my customary procedure of immediately retrieving it from the passenger seat. I appreciate ArthurCollins2 for sharing his story of inadvertently leaving the keys inside the baggage. The OH engages in such behaviour, often occurring subsequent to the removal of the bags from the vehicle and our departure towards the airport.

I am relieved that I am not the only foolish or incompetent person! I believe we ultimately succeeded in securing it. It was not until later that I realised the true nature of the situation when I searched for my suitcase. During the first days, I saw a few potential "deficiencies" in the vehicle's performance, but each time the car emitted a sound or exhibited a behaviour, there was always a valid explanation.

Based on my own observation, the vehicle would not engage the locking mechanism if there was an additional key present inside its interior. During the first days of automobile ownership, it failed to lock when both of us exited. Eventually, I came to the realisation that my luggage, along with my key, was still inside.

After conversing with the garage, they provided me with the assurance that Mercedes-approved vehicles undergo comprehensive inspections prior to being sold. Additionally, they told me that any potential issues would be detected during the diagnostic process. Although I am inclined to trust them, there is still some scepticism. The sound is incongruous to me, but it might be typical for Mercedes vehicles. I was seeking clarification or identification with the assistance of others on this site.

I took the vehicle for a trip this morning and listened to it both before and after. When the engine was not warmed up, I did not perceive any sound. However, after returning from a trip of around 30 minutes, I noticed the presence of a clicking noise.

Does anybody else have any more ideas? I am interested in determining the specific component responsible for producing the noise and understanding the underlying cause.

Thank you for responding. The engine had a consistent sound regardless of its temperature, as far as I could discern. Indeed, the volume may have been intensified in the video due to the proximity of my phone to the engine. However, the noise is sufficiently enough to be audible even when the car's hood is closed and one is standing behind it.

Thank you for your response. Are you aware of the specific component from which it is originating? I have not had that issue with any of my previous vehicles, which were all equipped with 6-cylinder diesel engines.

I have just purchased my first Mercedes vehicle and want assistance in discerning an unfamiliar sound emanating from under the hood, a sound that I have not encountered in my previous experiences with other automobile brands. This phenomenon occurs while the car's engine is in a state of idling and manifests as a distinct clicking or ticking sound, like the regular ticking of a clock every second. Should I be worried about this? What is the potential origin? If anybody is interested, I have captured the audio and published it to YouTube for anyone who would want to listen.

The gas cap cover seems to be made of metal and may be removed rather quickly (see to the link provided). Assuming that the finish is not a concern, this would simplify the process of powder coating. Due of the intricate nature of the form, wrapping may not be the most suitable choice.

I am uncertain if 51780 refers to a seal or a plate. Typically, when obtaining these diagrams, a list is also provided, specifying the component number. There are two component numbers, namely 52752 and 51752, assigned to the hub and rear hub cover, respectively.
