  2. That one is great, too. Could you tell me the name of the manufacturer of the kit, chain, and sprockets? We only have to rule out a few things. Just like Mike mentioned earlier, we also need to consider the end caps, which are BMW terminology for rectangular rings.
  3. The default positions are 120 and 122 degrees, so when it goes like this, the oil pressure won't move the vanos sprocket and trigger a locked-out camshaft. The usual range for diagnostics-related adaption and spread values is 55 and 150, respectively. There are a lot of ways in which solenoids might fail; I just had a setback with one that kept loudly knocking at 95 degrees; it turned out that the solenoid was defective—a cheap, crappy one, I think. Only Pierburg or authentic will do from now on.

  5. If the oil pressure is 55 psi, that's great. But how are you measuring it? Also, be careful with cheap gauges; they can be deceiving.
  6. The entire set was changed. You seem unique, Vanos. We have strong base timing. For some reason, my adaptation numbers seem to go up when I disconnect the two vanos solenoids. The other peculiarity is the persistently high oil pressure.
  7. Would you like me to confirm if you only had the chain replaced or if you also had the guides, vanos sprockets, and everything else?
  8. The mesh may have collapsed and partially obstructed it, or perhaps the oil solenoid has failed. Someone or something connected to the common 12v (orange wire) supply might be at fault. Another possible cause is an internal breakdown of the vanos sprocket or a stretched chain that is not up to specification. Could you please tell me the mileage and whether the timing of the TC replacement with a complete OE/OEM kit was considered?
  9. Hey there! I own a 07 N12 Mini. My exhaust vanos isn't working. P0014, in my opinion. While attempting to resolve the issue, I saw two things. 1. The oil pressure remains high at idle, at 55 psi, regardless of the temperature. Curious if there would be any problems with this. 2. The exhaust vanos adaptions self-correct to 51 degrees when I disconnect both solenoids. The exhaust adaptation goes out of spec by 34 degrees when plugged in. What do you think?
  10. If you want to remove them without damaging the paint, all you need is a plastic trim tool. Just be sure to place a towel below before prying them off.
  11. Today
  12. I appreciate it; are they easy to replace?
  13. Ebay is brimming with these, some authentic and others knockoffs.
  14. Is it easy to buy the black kidney grille for my 520i, which is a m sport model but has chrome accents? I want to paint or replace the faded center bridge between the grills. I am grateful.

  16. Just discovered a German expert who is really partial to Porsche; I may drop by and introduce myself. Trusted German Auto Solutions for All Your Porsche Needs in Leicester and Rutland
  17. I can't remember the name of the topic, but it's about independent music in and around the UK.
  18. I understand.Thank you, I will have a look. Per my post for newbies...Please share whatever information you have on reliable suppliers of parts, suggestions for wheel refurbishment, how-to guides, etc., because I am an amateur mechanic working on a project car in my driveway. No less so on an E91 / M47N2..320d. All is okay thus far with the excellent information obtained from this forum's thread expertise, Touch Noggin. Just in case I find up in a situation where my skills are inadequate, I was hoping someone could suggest a reliable independent BMW specialist in my area. Area of Rutland LE15. It would be most appropriate to start a new thread with that title, right?
  19. If you're looking for filters for any machine, go no further than TJ Filters. For some years now, I've utilised them on a variety of vehicles.
  20. Yes, I was only looking for some honest feedback because I needed an oil filter today and, out of curiosity, I decided to check out Halfords since I was parking near it. The stockrooms were too full of bikes, numberplates, and tents to have one in stock, but you can order a Bosch for £6.88 (including shipping) and pick it up the next day online. I spent £11.11 (excl. tax) at NAPA Auto Parts, the only store in the area. So, the pricing is fairly reasonable.

  22. In my opinion, a good place to get name-brand components is from a distributor like Parts in Motion. Filters supplied by BMW original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) Mahle, Mann, and Hengst. Once again, it's a popular brand of oil, and many of them are BMW LL 04 spec. Oils by Opie are reasonably priced. Does Halfords offer very low prices? Maybe I'm being too pessimistic, but I seriously doubt it.
  23. Hello, I was wondering if I was correct in assuming that Halfords sells genuine OEM parts for vintage BMWs. I have recently verified that all of the oil, filters, coolants, etc., conform to BMW OEM standards. Example of a coolant: G11/LC-87, developed to meet the specifications of earlier BMW models. Oil - Halfords 5W30 N9 commercial motor oil, developed to match BMW Longlife-04 standards You may match the oil filter to the OEM style of your BMW! I figured I'd use my trade card (I got one through my carpentry business) to get a discount on any near-by, off-the-shelf items, but what if they sell OEM parts? Should I use it? Please understand..While I appreciate doing what's right for the environment, I fail to see the value in shelling out exorbitant sums for name-brand items when there is such a fantastic substitute. Much like the Febi vs. BMW own case. Who has ideas?
  24. Last week
  25. Absolutely from first enquiry through to delivery, everything happened pretty much as explained. If they keep operating like this, I imagine they'll build quite a strong reputation in the repossessed vehicle market.
  26. Not gonna lie, I expected this thread to end differently. These days every other story online seems to involve somebody getting scammed. Fair play to Zolee Logistics if they're doing things properly.
