PopeyeR
I received a TPMS alert over the weekend due to one of my tires being slightly underinflated. The reading was 28 instead of 32. I restored the pressure to the prescribed level and inflated the other three tyres; however, the display now indicates a pressure of 34, and all tyres appear overinflated while being accurate when tested at the valve. The tyres were inflated when cold, and the vehicle was not operated at any time between measurements. Is this deemed typical? It is not a significant matter; I would merely be interested in knowing for future reference.
Samuraisaint
I question the advisability of depending on an accuracy beyond +/- 2.5% (about 1.7 psi range), as these measurements are likely to deviate over time due to ageing. Furthermore, in the absence of a zeroing system in the vehicle, inaccuracies are probable, and factors such as ambient temperature and pressure may also exert an influence. What is the accuracy of your setup device?
PopeyeR
That seems accurate, considering they are 2 PSI off and maybe 10 years old, unless a prior owner has replaced them. Both my digital tire pump and pressure gauge said that the tire was at 32 PSI; but, without a reference quantity, the accuracy remains uncertain. All readings were conducted within a 15-minute interval, thereby eliminating any potential discrepancies related to time and temperature.
Tactical
The date is inscribed on the tyre; if it is 10 years old, I would replace it. Tyre manufactures propose a maximum lifespan of 7 years. This frigid weather also lowers the measurements.
PopeyeR
The tires are new; however, I am uncertain about the age of the TPMS valves.

Notef
My TPMS is quite precise when compared to other pressure measurement devices.
Videoman
My TPMS indicates a pressure marginally higher than the observed value. On both my Jaguar and my Mercedes. There is a minor discrepancy in tyre pressure monitoring system readings from side to side on the Mercedes, although it is negligible. The system is engineered to identify pressure drops due to leaks and performs effectively in this capacity. I depend on the precise pressure recorded at the valve stem for accuracy.
