Authorce
I purchased my CLK as a secondary vehicle to save wear on my Range Rover, and it is excellent considering its cost, except for the outdated sound system. After an extensive hunt for a suitable Chinese unit, I eventually abandoned the endeavour and acquired a Pioneer double DIN unit. Interestingly, it was actually given to me by my significant other as a Christmas present. Today, I finally managed to install it and I am really satisfied. The physical installation process was rather simple, requiring both courage and caution while handling the different trim panels. Similarly, establishing the connection was uncomplicated, thanks to the provided patch leads. To be candid, I must admit that I abandoned my attempts to make the steering wheel controls function. Even if they were operational, they would simply allow me to adjust the volume and skip tracks. Moreover, I can easily access the touchscreen without any significant exertion. Hence, it did not seem worthwhile to spend hours pondering over this matter. Generally, I am rather satisfied with it and would suggest it to others who own Audio 20 and need an improvement. Jollyno
Pleasant. I am now in the process of procuring a new head unit for my CLK 500. I already own a 1500-watt 10-inch subwoofer and amplifier to complement it. I would also consider replacing the normal speakers, but I would want to assess their ability to handle the additional bass first. I had initially planned to purchase the wiring kit in order to retain the functionality of the steering wheel controls. However, upon further consideration, I have concluded that the additional cost is not justified. I could reconsider my decision in the future. Bitxx
Impressive. What is the purpose of having functional steering wheel buttons when you can control all functions using voice commands via Siri? I do not use CarPlay, just connect my iPhone over Bluetooth. However, I rely solely on voice commands, specifically addressing Siri. Initiate the playback of the Smith and Sniff podcast or establish a phone call with TheSteeringCommittee. What is the level of sound quality?
Authorce
Concurring with the steering wheel controls and using the touch screen does not pose any difficulty. However, in the case of the Range Rover, it requires a little effort to reach the controls, which I would not encounter with the CLK. I must express my dissatisfaction with the sound quality produced by the speakers that have been placed. However, it seems that these older installations lack an amplifier or subwoofer. Adv3nture
In my opinion, the compatibility of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the car's infotainment system is the most important factor. The specific system you have is not significant. Although there may be car-specific menu options that require temporarily exiting CarPlay to access them, CarPlay (or Android Auto) is sufficient for essential functions such as navigation, calls, messages, and voice commands while driving. That is my own experience, anyway. Both my Hyundai and Suzuki vehicles are equipped with high-end entertainment systems, and I mostly use smartphone connectivity for 90% of my usage. Bridgenix
Which specific Pioneer unit did you acquire?
Videoman
In my CLK, I have installed a Pioneer Avic-920. The installation process was somewhat complex, requiring the removal of the headliner, back seats, and trim panels in order to properly route the wires for DAB GPS AM/FM and rear camera. Nevertheless, the effort to get reliable DAB and GPS signals proved to be well worthwhile. I often engage in work activities in downtown London and have little disruptions in GPS signal. Additionally, the door speakers have been replaced and synchronised with the head unit.
Mindumer
I appreciate the information. It seems that there are many distinct versions of that specific model. Could you maybe provide more specific details about the one you have?I am uncertain about the extent to which I am interested, although the reverse camera you mentioned is rather enticing. depofly
I just purchased a CLK 280 A209, and the media unit is authentic. To get a replacement, please inquire with the appropriate authority. Additionally, kindly inquire whether any instructions are available for the removal of the old item and the installation of the new one. Â
tr4s
The answer to your question may vary depending on your specific definition of "media unit". Does it have COMAND with satellite navigation, or is it equipped with a normal Audio 10 or Audio 20 system? Additionally, the size of the headunit varies on the specific year. There are two different sizes available, with one measuring 260mm across the top of the headunit. The width of one variant is 254mm at the top. However, it is important to note that there are no Android devices available that resemble the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) design for the 254mm version. If you presently own Comand with its optical ring, you will need suitable interfaces. If you are fortunate, you own a basic audio system and a 260mm dashboard. In such a scenario, the Xtrons and Erisin headunits seem appealing and provide a plethora of features. Perform a search on the online marketplace known as 'Bay. depofly
Appreciation expressed. The vehicle is a 55reg model and I believe it is equipped with satellite navigation, indicating that it likely has the COMMAND system. I will gather further information upon the car's delivery on January 11th, as well as whenever I regain the ability to walk.
Banman
My relative has a CLC and wants to have Apple CarPlay as well. This device seems to be suitable for that purpose.
Adv3nture
The CLC is the only variation of the W203/C203 model that was equipped with NTG2.5, whereas the preceding models of W203/C203 were equipped with NTG2. The NTG2.5 system is compatible with the facelift version of the W203, however it cannot be installed in the pre-facelift models. In any case, none of the original infotainment systems installed in the W203/C203 variations (including the C208/A208) provide the CarPlay feature. To get Apple CarPlay in these vehicles, the only method is to replace the original head unit with one of the many aftermarket Android units available. Banman
Indeed, I believe that was his intended course of action. Additionally, there are some units that seem to be original equipment manufacturer (OEM). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225845191807?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338749392&toolid=20006&_trkparms=ispr=1&amdata=enc:12lba7D_pTu-xxZXJlqfm1A15&customid=GB_131090_225845191807.148038182292~1869570359649-g_EAIaIQobChMImqT0lbCwgwMVPJRQBh2K-wkkEAQYCSABEgL7JfD_BwE
