MuffinClaw
Does anybody understand why my airbag indicator remains illuminated after the removal and reinstallation process? I unplugged the battery, removed the airbag to repair the steering wheel, and reinstalled it; nevertheless, the airbag light remains lighted. I am uncertain of its relevance, however I inadvertently reclined the seat completely while attempting to access the area under the dashboard. Thank you for your assistance. Bitxx
A seat occupancy sensor located under the seat will activate the airbag indicator if it malfunctions. It is possible that reclining the seat damaged the sensor, socket, wiring, or another component. This equipment is about 30 years old. Which codes are shown by the computer? To my knowledge, the airbag indicator may alone be deactivated by erasing the computer's memory. This is an opportune moment to get PASoft, which can do that and also interpret codes. MuffinClaw
I never considered checking behind the seat to see whether a cable had become dislodged. I will examine it tomorrow. I own a code reader; however, I have not yet connected it, since I believe it is only a low-quality device I inadvertently obtained. I will also attempt to use it. Will these sensors be easily replaceable? What is PAsoft?

Bedelon
They are quite simple to modify. They are a little device located under the seat that informs the computer of occupant presence, hence determining the activation of the corresponding airbags in the case of a collision. Should the signal be disrupted for any reason, it will manifest as an error inside the airbag module.
Bedelon
What is PAsoft? PASoft is an economical, fundamental, and user-friendly OBD2 reader designed for older BMW vehicles. The package includes the gadget, a cable, and a CD with the software. It is also available for internet download. It is simple to install and start, similar to any other MS Windows program. This will enable you to read and erase error codes, modify numerous settings inside each module, and access additional functionalities, including the ability to monitor live data. It is essential for every owner of a vintage BMW.
