The indicator on the dashboard illuminates correctly when I engage the lever, but the headlights do not activate. Do you have any insights into the cause? Markwe Posted May 21 Share Posted May 21 The new HID Xenon system must be programmed into the vehicle for it to be recognised. This procedure can alone be executed with the MB STAR diagnostic computer. The procedure is referred to as 'SCN Coding'. Additionally, the complete HID system includes an automated levelling system (comprising sensors and motors) and headlamp washers. Disregarding the legal obligation for vehicles equipped with HIDs, I am uncertain how the car will respond in their absence. Specifically, after integrating the new HID system, the vehicle's ECU will anticipate the presence of the automatic levelling sensor and motors, along with the headlamp washers. Consequently, it may either generate a fault code on the dashboard or deactivate the HID system entirely; this remains unclear to me.
