Mercedes C180 W204 headlight malfunctions

Greetings to everybody, I consistently receive notifications regarding my headlights; they function properly, although the high beams are inoperative. The indicator on the dashboard illuminates correctly when I engage the lever, but the headlights do not activate. Do you have any insights into the cause?

Should all other methods prove ineffective, consider changing each bulb individually, as a single malfunctioning bulb can disrupt the entire syste

Did the issue arise subsequent to the replacement of the headlamps? Was the vehicle implicated in an accident?

Did the car originally possess ILS/HIDs, or were they installed subsequently?

Do you possess access to MB STAR?

I have previously encountered the same problem with the headlights; they were halogen, but I sought to upgrade to xenon. Even with the halogens, I was unable to utilise the high beams, and I do not have access to MB Star.

I sought to update from halogen to xenon headlights, as the high beams were nonfunctional with halogens; hence, I anticipated that xenons would rectify the problem.

The vehicle is not configured for Xenon headlights. One cannot only interchange them and expect functionality.

Various connections, ballasts, and coding will be necessary.

Additionally, if there is a preexisting issue that need attention.

The new HID Xenon system must be programmed into the vehicle for it to be recognised. This procedure can alone be executed with the MB STAR diagnostic computer. The procedure is referred to as 'SCN Coding'.

Additionally, the complete HID system includes an automated levelling system (comprising sensors and motors) and headlamp washers. Disregarding the legal obligation for vehicles equipped with HIDs, I am uncertain how the car will respond in their absence. Specifically, after integrating the new HID system, the vehicle's ECU will anticipate the presence of the automatic levelling sensor and motors, along with the headlamp washers. Consequently, it may either generate a fault code on the dashboard or deactivate the HID system entirely; this remains unclear to me.

You must take the vehicle to an independent specialist equipped with MB STAR.

The reflectors/projectors are likely incapable of accurately focussing the beam pattern. The illumination differs between the two bulb kinds. As already said. Technically, the conversion you have executed is not legally valid.
