FreexPatty
Greetings everyone, Has anybody have experience with an aftermarket integrated dashcam incorporated into the rearview mirror housing? I have been using a Nextbase dashcam, but it has failed me twice when required, prompting me to seek an alternative, which I have discovered. Has anybody tested one of these, and are they effective? Ziinsig
I just installed the BMW ACE 3 camera in my X3. Provided and installed at BMW, the total cost was £300. Fitting might be cumbersome, since the trimmings and headliners may need removal. I delegated it to the professionals. It captures footage both when stationary and in motion, a feature that my aftermarket plug-in camera lacked. Additionally, there exists an ACE3 Pro, which has a screen but is priced higher. The ACE documents all incidences, and any recordings may be accessed via an application on your mobile device.

FreexPatty
Thank you both. It is remarkable how inexpensive that dashcam on Aliexpress is! I believe I may get one of them for my wife's vehicle, since she only does infrequent excursions to the stores. Upon further investigation, it seems that BMW does not have an integrated version compatible with the mirror housing of earlier models like mine, and I am reluctant to remove trim in an attempt to install an aftermarket version. The Ace 3.0 seems to be the optimal choice. I will contact my local dealers for a quotation. Salutations.
CleverPixel
I have activated the camera on the desk using a USB-C cable, and it seems to be functioning well. Compact and tidy, it should be positioned behind the rearview mirror for optimal discretion. I want to conceal the lead below the edge of the headliner, along the A-pillar behind the door seal, and into the fuse box located at the rear of the glove compartment. The event is scheduled for this weekend, depending upon favourable weather conditions, for the juke.
Preedom
Approximately seven years ago, I acquired a comparable camera to the one you have referenced, which is integrated into the rearview mirror casing of my E90. Although it was intended for the E90, it was far bigger than the windscreen pad and was unappealing, hence it was ultimately not installed. It included a power lead that links to the loom in the headliner, which was advantageous.
FreexPatty
The rearview mirror facia on my F11 seems to have a little bigger footprint than that of your E90 due to the integrated sensor; nevertheless, it is certainly not as substantial as the camera housing seen in your image. Thank you for the notification.
Ziinsig
Should you choose to forgo the ACE3 and choose an inexpensive camera, be advised that it will probably use plastic lenses. At night, clarity and hue may be a problem. The first devices I used also had issues when the SD card reached capacity. Rather of overwriting, as superior cameras do, they ceased recording. Beneficial if observed; very frustrating if overlooked. The only solution was to reformat the cards. Yes, I only use high-quality and non-pirated cards. The ACE 3 has ultra high definition recording and a night vision capability, ensuring clarity in both darkness and daylight. The microphone may be activated or deactivated based on your activities in the vehicle. Geo-location and speed recording are both adjustable. FreexPatty
I believe I had the same problem with my current sat nav micro SD card. The camera seems to function well; however, it ceased overwriting previous video and hence stopped recording—several weeks prior to an incident when my parked vehicle was struck and the driver fled the scene. The SD card had been there for many years; nevertheless, the camera containing the card did not provide any notifications indicating it was not recording, or none that I saw. The dashcam displayed "no files" on the internal screen during playback, although it functions well when accessed via an SD card reader on my PC. I have purchased a new SD card specifically for my dashcam and will determine in a few days whether my current dashcam is functioning properly. Indeed, the ACE 3.0 is quite costly; but, should my current camera fail, it is likely that I will go for the ACE 3.0 as my next purchase. An adequate camera justifies the additional expense over time. Hopeful anticipation...
Grundysp
To OP, do you own the Nextbase model that accommodates a clip-in rear camera? I now own the 422GW with a clip-in rear camera, and it works well. Initially, I was doubtful about the image quality from the front camera through the rear window beyond the seats; nevertheless, it is very satisfactory.
