KnightNewscast
At what kilometres should the timing belt be replaced for a 2012 Cooper 1.6 diesel?
Starat
It is more probable that the issue lies in the timing chain, which will need the removal of the gearbox as well. Typically, a complete TC kit (Febi or FAI) would have around 60,000 miles on it. KnightNewscast
Greetings, I appreciate your response. I purchased the vehicle three months before. There are no issues being shown. The approximate mileage is about 99,500 miles. The book contains service history stamps, but none of them pertain specifically to the timing chain. Bleakerje
With a mileage of 99,000 on the clock and no previous maintenance, it is highly recommended to address this issue as it is common for these parts to break. I recently worked on a Cooper SD over Christmas which had a full BMW service history and was owned by an older gentleman who took good care of it. The timing chain was almost at the end of its travel on the tensioner, indicating a potentially disastrous situation. To fix this, the engine and gearbox would need to be removed. It would also be wise to replace the oil pump, as there are many cases of oil pump failures found on eBay. There is a revised BMW oil pump available. The procedure involves removing the engine and gearbox, as well as the front of the vehicle. If you receive a quote from BMW or a specialist, please share it with me. Kenjibb
With a mileage of 99,000, it would be advisable to replace the chains to prevent any potential damage if they were to fail. I have obtained another item that now has

Bleakerje
It is always preferable to catch the problem before it worsens and ultimately leads to failure. Additionally, there are numerous instances of cars with failed oil pumps being sold on eBay. A friend of mine who works at a BMW dealership mentioned that it is highly recommended to replace the oil pump on an N47 engine with over 80,000 kilometres using only genuine parts. Furthermore, when replacing the timing chains, customers are advised to also replace the oil pump. It is important to note that a diesel engine with a failed oil pump is likely to suffer significant damage.
KnightNewscast
I will do the task, my friend. Have you had the opportunity to communicate with the exhaust specialist to get the pricing for the exhaust system and the re-mapping service?
