Traversing Europe by car

I need assistance. Next month, I will be driving across Europe from the UK and I am uncertain about whether I need to use headlamp deflectors. I own a 2018 Gen 2 GT Line S model equipped with dynamic cornering headlights. The term often used to refer to these headlights is "adaptive headlights". I have received conflicting information from two KIA dealers, and neither Halfords nor KWIK Fit are able to assist me. May I get some advice, please? πŸ™

Could you please provide the specifications of your GT-Line S? Specifically, I am interested in knowing if it is equipped with halogen lights or xenons. The xenon projectors in my Proceed (same generation) provide flat beams. It may be difficult to locate darkness during this season, but if you position your vehicle around three car lengths away from a plain wall, you should be able to determine whether the beam of light remains level or whether it tilts towards the side closest to you.

Thank you for your kind gesture. I appreciate it. I will postpone my inspection of the lights until it becomes dark. When I start the vehicle in the dark, I see the lights adjusting vertically and horizontally to align, but I have not observed a leftward flicker. I will verify, however.

If your vehicle is equipped with auto-levelling, it is likely that it has projector xenon headlights, which should also provide flat beams. There are just two hours left before sunset! 😁.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter, really appreciated. I delayed my check till almost 11pm before I could do so.Β  The flat beam eliminates the need for deflector devices, simplifying the setup process.

I discovered on my prior Sportage. While driving in France, I encountered several oncoming automobiles that were signalling me by flashing their lights. To address this, I adjusted the headlight levelling switch downwards by a few increments, which effectively resolved the issue and prevented any further flashing.

Not a problem, I am pleased to assist.

In addition to Mr. Macspot's statement, if you discover that you are experiencing intermittent bursts of light from other vehicles, you may make temporary modifications to the alignment of your headlights using the following method:

I purchased headlight deflectors without certainty of their need. However, it transpired that my vehicle is equipped with flat beams and a control to adjust their level. I have had instances when I have been blinded by the headlights of passing trucks while my vehicle is carrying a full load and I have neglected to adjust the beam level accordingly. The unused deflector kit is stored in the seat pocket in case I need them.
