Preedom
Greetings, everyone. I have owned my automobile since 2009. I have ultimately decided to restore her to a pristine condition. The vehicle is undergoing a complete repainting process. Could you provide any recommendations for the maintenance procedures to be followed while removing panels, doors, hood, etc. for repainting? Thank you!
Mezuzzi
Regarding the new paint, what are the maintenance requirements? I would recommend using a paint protection film (PPF) when the paint has fully cured, rather than immediately.
TraumaLaugh
Personally, I believe that using a PPF (Paint Protection Film) on a fully painted vehicle would not be advisable. Maintain it with a high-quality ceramic coating.
NameInterest
Is it a cause for worry if the paint is still wet?
Preedom
Indeed, XPel Hong Kong recommended that I allow the automobile to remain stationary for a few weeks. However, because I am disassembling the vehicle for repainting, there will be plenty time for the paint to properly aerate.
Kiddokt
What is the reason for choosing a complete repaint instead of opting for paint correction? Is the paint severely chipped?
Preedom
The hood has a chip. I did not get the Public Provident Fund (PPF) in 2009 since it was not available at that time. My GT3 RS does possess it, so it is enduring. The issue is in the impracticality of using a paint protection film (PPF) over top of damaged paint. Additionally, my R8 V8 is coated in a unique hue that was not properly finished by the manufacturer during its first production.
Nekomp
Immediately after repainting a vehicle, it is not possible to apply ceramic coating or paint protection film (PPF). It is necessary to wait for a few weeks for the fresh paint to fully dry and complete the process of offgassing. In my opinion, a minimum of one month would suffice, while a period of 6 to 8 weeks would be more preferable. It is advisable to refrain from driving the automobile while it is undergoing the curing process. If you want to apply paint protection film (PPF), it is advisable to avoid damaging the fresh paint. After the new paint has completely dried and hardened, it is advisable to have a skilled detailer do a thorough decontamination cleaning and, if necessary, a paint correction. Indeed, it is often necessary to rectify newly applied paint. First, do the PPF (Paint Protection Film) application, and last, apply the ceramic coat. Preedom
Yes, the vehicle will be left at the PPF business once it is repainted. The owner refused to relocate the item since my uncle is the landlord. π
