Barringer
Greetings, everyone. I own a 2013 Kia with a 1.6 CRDI engine and 4 tech features. When operating at around 1600rpm, there is a narrow range of engine revolutions when I get a distinct noise like a rattling sound. (Excluding all the people, specifically referring to the automobile) Based on my perception, there seems to be an exhaust blast occurring simultaneously with the turbo spooling up. However, I have some apprehension that this might be attributed to the turbo bearings vibrating. It is quite frustrating since the roads in my area are mostly designed for driving, and this issue occurs when I reach a speed of around 58mph when in 6th gear. Consequently, it becomes a persistent source of irritation when I attempt to maintain a speed of 60mph on winding and steep roads. Most of the time, I find myself driving in 5th gear to maintain high engine revolutions and, as a result, I likely use a significant amount of diesel unnecessarily. Has anybody else experienced this? Markwe
The only instance I have seen this issue was when there was a minuscule break in the exhaust manifold of a 1.8 Nissan 200 turbo.
Barringer
That seems logical. I was mostly concerned about the possibility of a defect in the turbocharger itself. Now I need to determine whether it is worth investing on a thorough analysis and welding for a vehicle that is 11 years old and valued at £2000. Markwe
Inspect for any traces of black carbon residue. The potential causes might be either the turbo gasket or the manifold gasket. Even the exhaust gasket... Enlist someone to impede or obstruct the tailpipe and see whether any auditory changes occur. Are you experiencing any symptoms related to gas leakage or a malfunctioning gas jet? Barringer
A few years ago, there was a blanking plate installed on the EGR valve. I am curious whether there might be a leakage occurring via that connection. I will investigate more.

CrawlerTagz
If you believe this to be true, are the bolts for the EGR pipe easily visible and can they be tightened quickly? (assuming the plate is located at the front of the engine, rather than at the back near the cooler)
CrawlerTagz
My device has also been experiencing intermittent malfunctions. I perceive the sound more prominently when you deactivate the engine when the door or window is open. I have identified the origin of the issue as the horizontal seam located on the middle silencer of the exhaust system. The surface has had little delamination and there is a minor leakage present. I am contemplating the use of exhaust putty to cover the affected area, since there are no visible signs of rust. Please examine that location and see if you are experiencing a similar problem.
