Is it possible to interchange an engine block from an automatic transmission vehicle with one from a manual transmission vehicle? Only the engine block. All additional parts and cylinder head from the original engine. The alphanumeric code is N12B16A.

Yes, it is indeed the same. The torque converter flywheel plate may be installed on any crankshaft. However, it is important to remember to place the timing ring on the end of the crankshaft before reattaching the flywheel. Failing to do so would require repeating the whole process.

Thank you. Despite my extensive efforts in repairing the engine, it unexpectedly had a piston failure while operating at high speed. Merely seven days after the MOT, I am uncertain about the appropriate course of action. I really want to retain it!

I assume that the end cap may have been installed incorrectly, as I have seen others making this error in the past. If this is really the case, you may consider acquiring a Peugeot or Citroen engine, since they are identical to the one in the Mini and tend to be more affordable. I have come across fully functioning vehicles being sold for as little as £300 due to either being out of MOT or having a broken gearbox.

Indeed, I was considering an end cap. Attempting to apply the necessary torque when the drive was in an inverted position was really difficult and I definitely made a mistake. Utterly devastated!
