I recommend hiring someone to both provide and install the item - no questions asked. I speak from firsthand experience.

NTG5*1 comes with built-in compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it may be added or enabled later if not initially available.

NTG5*2 is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via third-party hardware.

I believe that both options will be similarly priced to an Android device.

I am curious about the benefits of the Android device from the original poster's point of view. For example, a larger display, touchscreen capabilities, and the capability to operate applications not permitted for use in vehicles.

I have used Android Auto in five vehicles now and will be installing it in my sixth car, an e93 M3, on March 6th.
Out of the four cars I own, I replaced the head unit in my e46 M3 with a new one. The other three Mercedes and one BMW have a Limcet box that connects to the existing head unit, allowing you to use either the stock system or access Android Auto wirelessly via the system display using an auxiliary connection.
There are likely more advanced systems than limcet, but that is the technology my fitter uses. I also have a reversing camera installed simultaneously if it is not already there.

Only one vehicle I purchased, the GLA 45, came with Android Auto pre-installed, but required the phone to be connected via USB. My 2018 C63S, equipped with smartphone integration, did not include Android Auto, which was unexpected. Had to get it via a third-party container.

USB dongles are available for purchase to enhance current Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems with wireless connectivity.
If your C63s is a facelift W205 model, it likely has COMAND NTG5.5. The MB Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions may be added via STAR activation for a charge or by using a hack through the OBDII connection. To connect, a USB connection is required unless you choose for a third-party wireless dongle.

Yes, I no longer have the vehicle that supported wired Android Auto. It's a pity since it attracted attention from boy racers who would suddenly emerge and challenge it to races. Fortunately, I was able to manage my way out of those circumstances. In the past, I mostly used the MB navigation system, since Copilot was incompatible with Android Auto and lacked features like speed limit information, which I found preferable to Google Maps about seven years ago.

Important to mention for anyone considering adding Android Auto/Apple CarPlay to a vehicle with a facelift using Star diagnostic tools.

Considering convertibles, but find the c63 to be expensive at more over 30k. The F8X M4s are currently priced in the mid $20,000s, thus the opportunity to purchase a 205 model has passed for me in the near future.
