Button on the inside of the door handle circle black button

Is there anyone who can explain the function of this button? I previously owned a 120d from the 16 plate year. I have exerted pressure on it and cannot observe any alterations.

It secures or releases the door.

The door does not appear to lock either.

That is precisely the function of the button - the locking mechanism of the door is inconsequential. 😂

Haha, that’s reasonable; is there a specific reason it’s malfunctioning at the moment? I haven't owned the car for long, and there are numerous features I don't understand; my previous vehicle was a 116d, which only had a clutch pedal and a steering wheel.

This is unfamiliar to me; I have never encountered it before, although I cannot claim to have actively searched for it, yet I believe I would have sensed its presence.

It is the identical small button located on the side of the seat adjacent to the button that inflates the sides of the seat, provided they are the sports seats.

I possess the button for the bolster pump, yet I have never encountered that particular one in the handle.
I visited my friend's garage yesterday and observed three BMWs, yet none possessed that button.
One lives and learns, as the saying goes, and I will continue to seek every opportunity, haha.
