The power steering system of my 2012 Range Rover Evoque had a failure. I paid a sum of £200 to have it towed to Stratstone in Reading. The steering rack requires replacement and they provided a cost of £3800. According to their statement, the bolts are undamaged and thus do not meet the criteria for being included in the recall. They have proposed a sum of £300 as a purchase offer, which would eliminate the need for me to tow it back home. Alternatively, they are willing to provide £1000 as a contribution towards a part exchange. Something seems off. Does anybody have any guidance or recommendations? Thank you everyone

After a few years of ownership, Merc performed a certified engine rebuild specifically targeting the balancer shaft. Since then, there have been no issues with it. I will definitely discuss the matter thoroughly with Merc breakers to get their perspective. The engine is essentially half as old as the automobile.
