That is my cousin from Germany.
-
It seems that it was recently sold.

The E46 began manufacturing in late 1997, making the oldest versions 27 years old currently.I can not recall time passing so swiftly since the debut of this automobile.
-
I received an alert about mine, with no specified restriction.

Thank you for your assistance. I will put here upon discovery.
-
Thank you. I will investigate it.

Greetings. Thank you for your response. I cannot ascertain anything (no illumination). It consists of three or four melodic notes that are repeated five or six times.

Greetings. Recently acquired a G21 because my used F11 became quite outdated. I like the G21, albeit it exhibits some instability in wet situations. Upon initiation, I hear a sequence of mild chimes emanating from the middle of the dashboard. I enquired if anybody could provide clarification on what that is, please. The sound seems to consist of around six or seven chimes. This is unrelated to external temperature, seatbelts, and warning lights (regrettably, I am unable to provide a link to a recording). The 'AC' sign is only visible on the passenger side of the dashboard; is this typical? I cannot locate an option to display the AC symbol on the driving side. Thank you in advance.

Mercedes service protocols/service strategy
NarrativePsych replied to NarrativePsych's topic in General
The service time for both the gearbox and differential oil is 30,000 miles or 3 years, if I recall correctly. Thus, when it was completed at Beaconsfield Mercedes in November 2023, with the vehicle having 30,500 miles at that time, it was the first occurrence. Nonetheless, I would assert that the visit constituted out-of-band labour conducted at the behest of the individual from whom I purchased the vehicle. The involvement of an authorised dealer in the repair, which is documented, makes it perplexing that Mercedes would want to repeat the process. However, if they are unable to claim for the first B service I had last month, it seems logical that they would want a repeat service. I am not expressing dissatisfaction; it incurs no cost to me. I am receiving a vehicle for the day, and my only obligation is to transport the automobile to and from the dealer, a distance of seven miles each way. I am more perplexed than anything else! -
Mercedes service protocols/service strategy

I purchased the vehicle from an independent seller, who had the maintenance performed at Beaconsfield Mercedes as a stipulation of the sale to me (I saw both repairs were necessary when reviewing the history). The individual who contacted me from Inchcape said that she could see it in the system. It is perplexing that people would choose to repeat the task. -
Completed a B Service under a service plan at the end of last month. I received a call from Inchcape indicating that although the vehicle was serviced, it should have had a gearbox and differential oil change concurrently, and they cannot reimburse the service fee from the plan without doing the necessary maintenance. This is despite my informing them (and it being documented) that Mercedes Beaconsfield completed the maintenance, which was due at £30,000 in November 2023, prior to my purchasing the vehicle (as a stipulation of my acquisition from an independent dealer). It is returning for its second set of oil changes within 12 months, granted at no expense to me, but costing £800 to 'someone' for the service. It seems illogical to repeat the process; yet, I perceived that they would attempt to levy charges for the prior service if I declined, since they would interpret it as a violation of contract (i.e., omitting service items, etc.).

That is a thought-provoking idea. I use little pressure on the accelerator due to my appreciation for great efficiency and my belief that it enhances engine longevity. I go mostly at 65 mph; is it insufficient speed? I have used Redex diesel cleaner for many years and have lately transitioned to STP. While they undoubtedly enhance engine performance, I doubt that any of those chemicals effectively reach the turbocharger for cleaning purposes.

Thank you, everyone. I am consulting another technician tomorrow who claims that this model has a version with a wastegate that can be changed independently of the main unit. I remain optimistic. I acknowledge that the automobile is about 10 years old (specifically, just under 9), nevertheless I would anticipate a crucial component such as a turbocharger to exhibit more durability. During a comprehensive service of a diesel engine, are the turbo components generally serviced, or should I do supplementary maintenance to enhance longevity?

I purchased a 2015 Fiesta 1.5 TDCI in 2019 for £35,000, which has been carefully maintained both before to and during the acquisition. Primarily used for commuting on A roads and highways, under 10,000 miles each year. I believed that a turbocharger typically endures around 150,000 miles; nevertheless, I have reached 72,000 miles, and the technician I consulted has indicated that the wastegate has seized. Is this typical, or does it indicate an underlying issue with the engine that has led to the turbo's failure? Will the component be covered by Ford if the car is under 10 years old, similar to their wetbelt engines, or have I inadvertently purchased a defective vehicle? The technician has estimated £800 for the replacement of the turbo, oil pipe, and an oil change, indicating a significant price. He asserts that he attempted to release it but was unsuccessful. Do you have any more recommendations? Should I attempt to release the wastegate independently, despite being a total beginner, before spending £800?

We can provide original equipment manufacturer (OEM) options for the replacement and authentic conversion of front and rear bumpers, as well as side skirts. All items are now available, however, the prices are higher compared to the Chinese market. The location of it may be found here: https://matts.us/ -
Malfunctioning washers on diesel touring vehicle - assistance needed.
NarrativePsych replied to LimeLing's topic in General
When my vehicle's washers stopped functioning, it was discovered that the bottom of the washer bottle had gotten obstructed by 'sludge' from the fluid within. This was a result of my seldom use of the automobile, which led to the washers not being used. After removing, cleaning, and refilling the bottle washer, everything was satisfactory. -
I believe I have many surplus items in storage. I am certain that the manual and automatic cut-offs are identical. Frankly, I am uncertain about the condition. Nearly all of these instruments had some cracks in the lacquer even a decade or two ago, making it difficult to locate a flawless one in the present day. However, I am certain that I would own a superior one. Another obstacle is locating a vehicle with a same arrangement of openings as yours - some vehicles may have manual windows or just front electric windows, for example. Some vehicles are equipped with features such as heated seats. However, your arrangement seems to resemble a somewhat typical design seen in a post-facelift vehicle. If you are unable to obtain one locally, I can assist you in checking for its availability. However, I am uncertain about the exact cost of shipment.

Fractured (separated) pin on the cambelt tensioner
NarrativePsych replied to NarrativePsych's topic in General
Regarding the repair, what would be the further course of action and how much manpower would it require? Am I justified in expressing to my neighbour that I believe he is responsible for the issue and that I strongly want him to rectify it, considering that I have already remunerated him with £2744 for the work done, which has just exacerbated the problem? -

Thank you for that, Micobe. This situation has the potential to create a significant level of discomfort, considering the fact that it was my neighbour, who happens to operate a garage/workshop, who completed all the tasks on my behalf. I have complete trust in your statement, John, and I am willing to accept it. However, if there is another individual who can provide a corroborating viewpoint, it would be advantageous for me to contact my neighbour. This would allow me to demonstrate to him that there is a consensus among experts indicating that he has made a mistake. -

Greetings, everyone. I own two 2007 A6 C6 2.0 TDi Avants, one of which I use as my primary vehicle. It has accumulated 125,000 miles and is visibly damaged with several dents and signs of wear and tear. I purchased the second one at a very low cost in late 2023 due to a malfunctioning engine. The vehicle is in excellent cosmetic condition, with a mileage of 101000 and a valid MOT for 10 months. Despite paying £2700, which was more than the first quotation, I believed it was a worthwhile investment considering the car's potential longevity. A rocker was damaged, therefore it was replaced along with a new cambelt and cylinder head/gaskets. Regrettably, the automobile had a catastrophic breakdown after covering just a few kilometres. I have been informed that the cause of this failure is the shearing off of the cambelt tensioner pin. I am facing a dilemma - how severe may this situation be; is it probable that the engine would be deemed irreparable? Is it worthwhile to allocate further resources towards conducting further investigations in order to ascertain the full extent of the damage? If my automobile is beyond repair, would it be advisable to replace the engine with the one from my other vehicle, which may not be in good cosmetic condition? If so, what would be the estimated expenses involved? Both vehicles are equipped with the engine code BRE. However, the dysfunctional automobile is equipped with a continuously variable gearbox (CVT) whereas my everyday car has a manual gearbox. I would much appreciate any help or cost-effective solutions that anybody is able to provide. I would be interested in repairing the non-functional vehicle, but unfortunately, I do not own an unlimited amount of funds.

I own a 2022 model and have never had any problems with it. The headlights are excellent in my humble opinion.

Is Mannol a reliable brand for R56 N12 engine oil?
NarrativePsych replied to LimeLing's topic in General
Personally, I change the oil every 8,000 miles since I believe that the notion of extended oil life is misleading and may be detrimental to the engine's longevity.
