  1. 2016 is like to the neglected black sheep, hardly mentioned.
  2. Would you contemplate doing any activities before the next 4000 kilometres if you were not travelling?
  3. The A/C sign represents both sides, not alone the side on which it is shown; thus, yours is functioning optimally. Regarding the chimes, I have never encountered them, therefore I am eager to learn what they are.
  4. Thank you, and indeed, I want to retain it. My technician has also advised that I do the ZF gearbox service for 950 euros as part of 'future proofing' the vehicle. Is it what you refer to as the gearbox and gearbox case?
  5. Indeed, it may be true; I just want to ascertain if other BMW consumers would find it bothersome to change the chain. No discernible indications of rattling or similar disturbances are present from the engine.
  6. During a recent repair, my technician said that the timing chain on my 2014 X5 3.0 L diesel SE was "loose," albeit not critically damaged. I have completed 224,000 km, and it has not yet been changed. He now asserts that it is unnecessary to do the task since the N57 engine does not have timing chain issues. I suspect he may be reconsidering his decision due to his undervaluation of the job. Do you have any recommendations?
  7. Currently, I find myself in a state of confusion and resentment. I have returned it to the dealer. After inspecting, they have determined that the primary battery is the issue, since it is only generating 11.6 volts. Furthermore, they anticipated that I would bear the cost of £370 or more for a replacement battery and the associated work. I have engaged in a dispute due to the fact that they billed me for an auxiliary battery and claimed that it resolved the issue, while it did not. The vehicle diagnostics screen on the automobile displays the engine data, indicating that the battery is generating a voltage of 14.7v. However, I am uncertain about the cause of the issue. We have reached an agreement where I will just cover the cost of the new battery, while they will waive the labour price. However, I am still dissatisfied with having paid £200 last week for a repair that was unnecessary. We will see whether it ultimately resolves the issue with the eco mode.
  8. I have recently driven for 20 miles on the highway without using the air conditioning, turning off the screen, and unplugging the USB cords, in the hope that it would provide a boost to the new battery. The eco indicator on the dashboard is still illuminated in yellow. I will wait for a few days to see the outcome. It is quite perplexing that when I go to get it, they claim that it is fully repaired and functional, despite strong evidence to the contrary.
  9. The model of the car is W218 2016 CLS 220D. The functionality of my ECO mode ceased earlier this year. I only see the yellow ECO wording on the dashboard and not the green box with inverted writing, indicating that it is not engaged. Additionally, I observed that the air conditioning system fails to emit cold air even when set to its lowest temperature setting. Furthermore, even when the temperature is set to 20 degrees Celsius, and the surrounding temperature ranges between 18-22 degrees Celsius, I can hear a noise like air passing over the top of a bottle emanating from the vents. My dealer inspected the air conditioning system and confirmed that there are no issues with it. However, they noted that it does not produce cold air. Instead, it only cools the air to a maximum of 10 degrees below the surrounding temperature. This is peculiar because when I initially acquired the vehicle, it did generate cold air that was capable of numbing your fingers. The same is true for my wife's Nissan Juke. Regardless, they said that it is the auxiliary battery. I first suspected that a sensor in the heating matrix may be responsible for the ECO mode not meeting the necessary criteria for activation, particularly if it incorrectly perceives that the appropriate ambient temperature has not been reached. However, they were certain that the issue was with the auxiliary battery. Today, a new auxiliary battery was installed, which incurred a cost of £200 for both the components and service. I am uncertain about the specific actions they have taken, since the ECO mode remains non-functional and the font colour persists as yellow rather than green. Upon driving home, which took around 30 minutes, I saw that the start/stop function did not activate even once. I considered the possibility that I should use the battery for a short period of time to ensure optimal performance, although one would question the need of doing so for a completely new battery. I accelerated rapidly while driving on a divided highway. The object remains yellow and inoperable. Unsatisfied with having spent £200 for no result... I am further dissatisfied by the fact that they claimed to have resolved the issue, but it is evident that just starting the ignition proves otherwise. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts?
  10. There is a problem with the steering column adjustment in the 204 model. There are some indications and a link provided for reference. Simply detach the electrical connection and then pivot it vertically.
  11. There are other entries on this topic that I recall. I suggest doing a search to find them. I believe if you attempt it, the process will restart.
  12. Those are the same items mentioned in the subsequent post below your previous one, and they function very well. The previous night, I saw no signs of its presence. However, the next morning, I discovered a deceased individual firmly lodged in that location, which was rather effective. Upon my initial encounter with the device, the instructions indicated that I should fold it and discard it after capturing a mouse. However, I decided to deviate from this recommendation and instead attempted to remove the deceased mouse from the device and reuse it. To my surprise, the adhesive properties of the device were remarkably strong. In fact, while attempting to peel off the mouse, it abruptly snapped, resulting in me being drenched in unpleasant mouse remains. Disgusting! Therefore, I will keep it in place until it has captured many items, and then I will discard it. We own an exceptional feline hunter named Milo, renowned for his prowess in catching mice. However, due to the secure nature of my sealed workshop, Milo is unable to get access when the doors are closed. Consequently, it is logical to maintain a trap inside the workshop. By the way, I purchased my adhesive traps on the online marketplace eBay.
  13. I have placed one adhesive pad in my workshop, affixed to a wall, and it has successfully captured three mice so far.
  14. At my workplace, we had a Range Rover that was declared a total loss due to extensive damage to the wire harness caused by rodent consumption.
  15. Indeed, it is much delayed. I had mistakenly believed that it had been completed not too long ago. I have just purchased an authentic repair kit that includes new bolts. I will do some research to get the appropriate torque values.
  16. Currently examining my records, I have found one entry from 2017 indicating a mileage of 31,000. Additionally, it states that an oil and filter change was performed. My visual perception is limited, thus I believe that there has just been one alteration.
  17. The vehicle's service history is not fully documented by Mercedes. It is a 2014 model with 58,000 km on the odometer. I will verify promptly upon my arrival at home.
  18. Greetings to everybody, Today, I went to get the vehicle's alignment adjusted. However, I had an issue where the car's engine was running at high RPMs but the car was not moving forward. To resolve this, I shifted between reverse and drive a few times, and the problem was resolved for the whole round trip of around 45 miles. I applied sufficient acceleration throughout the journey and the car operated smoothly. After let the vehicle idle for around 5 hours, I attempted to drive it around the block. However, I had the same issue where the car struggles to go forward, similar to the experience of a manual car with a sliding clutch. Although there are no illuminated indicators on the dashboard, my buddy has graciously offered to lend me his diagnostic scanner tomorrow in the expectation that it would reveal any potential issues. However, I am certain that resolving the problem will need the expertise of a professional. Has anybody else experienced this previously? I have made a reservation to go to Germany in a few weeks and I am feeling really anxious.
  19. That is not occurring. The automobile belongs to a family member, and ATS provided a quotation of £650 for the replacement of discs, pads, shoes, and handbrake cables. I have purchased the components for a total of £80 and possess the necessary tools along with a moderate level of proficiency. Regardless, it is preferable to not have to engage in any activities involving or concerning one's spouse.
  20. I want assistance in modifying the aforementioned component on a 2014 Sportage throughout the next weekend. Does anybody possess any valuable advice or guidance? With the use of an impact screwdriver, it is expected that the disc screws will be successfully removed. Should I use a screwdriver to rotate the shoe adjustment in the opposite direction as the handbrake? I would presume that the handbrake shoes are in satisfactory condition, but does anybody have knowledge of the minimum thickness required?
  21. My chilly air does the same function. It is somewhat vexing.
  22. I procured some components from them. My advise is to not bother. Inadequate communication from them, and after a two-week waiting period, they informed me that the components are unavailable. The components were obtained from a Mercedes dealership within a span of three days. Furthermore, the Mercedes dealer offered a price that was 30% lower.
  23. "The battery is recently replaced, only a few months old." Is the automobile equipped with the clever battery system? Did you register it, if so?
  24. The presence of closed windows and an active HVAC system will result in the lingering of the unpleasant odour of an old cigar for a considerable duration. One year later, you may enter your automobile on a hot day and still detect persistent cigar aromas. Lowering the car windows and turning off the HVAC system will reduce the amount of smoke in the car, but it will still adhere to the headliner and interior surfaces. An affordable ozone generator, along with a thorough cleaning, can effectively eliminate any lingering musty odour. Avoid running the ozonator for an extended period of time as it might cause damage to rubber and plastic materials. Personally, I refrain from smoking in my high-quality autos. My vehicle serves that purpose.
  25. Thank you everybody, I will ensure proper maintenance and get pleasure from it without a doubt 🙂
