Micobe
The driver's side carpet is where I'm chasing the water. I am completely stumped and could need some advice. At first, there was water seeping through the visor and vanity light; however, this was soon remedied once the drain pipes on the roof were cleared. That happened a few months ago, but I've noticed that the carpet under the driver's side is usually wet. The washer fluid reservoir was leaking at the bottom when I removed the wheel liner. I discovered a damaged vent tube and replaced it along with the entire reservoir. I let the reservoir sit for a time, but the dampness persisted. I have soaked the weather strip along the driver's side window with litres of water, but the water is still not seeping through the door card. I cleaned the cowl region of leaves and debris while removing the wheel liner. I have checked all areas under the carpet, including the additional sound insulation, and it does not appear to be draining from the gearbox tunnel or bulkhead. A thorough inspection has been conducted. The thick carpet foam underlay and the dark grey polystyrene block just beneath the carpet in front of the pedals provide a moist sensation whenever I place my hand under the carpet from the drivers sill. The abundance of fuses on the driver's kick panel makes it impossible to feel the panel. If the trans tunnel is dry, then it can't be the air conditioning drain tube. Because I don't want to take out the front carpet—which would require removing the front seats and center console—any assistance in finding a solution would be greatly appreciated. Is the delay in drying out only due to the weather, or may there be another source of the leak? It seems like taking out the front carpet would necessitate taking out the seats and center console as well, so I'd rather not do that.
Bedelon
If the foam is soaked, the carpet will never dry out until it is removed and dried out correctly with heaters. Anyone who tells you differently is telling you lies. The thick foam will feel dry to the touch after 24 hours, but it will not be completely dry until 48-72 hours have passed. The formation of mould is something you definitely don't want to be inhaling in an enclosed cab, so you should probably have this done quickly. Micobe
Appreciate the guidance. Being our sole mode of transportation, it could be challenging to remove the seats and center console. Can dehumidifiers remove excess moisture?
Bedelon
It is not necessary to completely remove the carpet or the center console; only push it up to allow hot air to travel below it. With the driver's seat off and the back bench pulled up, you may proceed. There are cutouts in the carpet where the seat bolts into the car floor; thread a strap through one of these holes and secure it to the passenger's roof handle on the other side using some nylon rope. To circulate the heated air in the cabin, all you need is a £10 heater from Screwfix. After around two days, everything should be dry, provided that any exposed wires are covered to avoid direct heat. The task has already been required of me twice 😂😂
NarrativePsych
Well, there you have it. Carpet removal is a necessary task. Pliable padding dries more slowly. Nevertheless, the line connecting the wiper fluid has detached itself and is now wrapped around the rear driver's side of the tunnel. Are additional hoses disconnected...? Most likely. Bitxx
Do not turn the key in the ignition while the seats are removed; doing so may trigger dashboard warning lights that require diagnostics to be extinguished.
