Riding regularly on the roads of Oxfordshire is next to impossible, as I discovered last week when I set out on the K1600. You find yourself continually checking the road surface to prevent damage (or worse) caused by the horrible potholes, rather than looking through bends to achieve a smooth line and ahead for dangers and threats. Riding a Blood Bike at night is extremely dangerous since it's hard to spot the flaws that will eventually lead the user to lose control of the bike. I feel terrible for them.

Over the weekend, I had a comparable discussion about potholes with another person. We both agreed that the worst thing is that drivers and riders are so preoccupied with crashing into craters that they fail to look more than three feet ahead of their vehicle for possible hazards.

Former Greater Manchester Blood Bikes Charity Lead Duty Controller and Trustee Barrie Green posted the following on social media: "It has finally occurred, and you wouldn't believe it. Heidi Alexander, the transport minister, had her vehicle towed away after a HUGE pothole near Oxford damaged her tires. Alexander then placed the blame on local councils and the current ruling Liberal Democrats for the lack of road maintenance. She threatened to cut funding to councils unless they met their targets for fixing potholes. This is not fiction, folks. For all the drivers out there who have been crunched, banged, or smacked into a bloody pothole, here is some justice at last. Now that you can take a moment to revel in this glory, I hope you all have a good day and be careful on those roads! Ha ha ha, I'm sorry, but this really made my morning!

No amount of time spent driving about Oxfordshire on 13-inch wheels with 80% aspect tires (remember those?) would prevent twisted rims and damaged suspension.

Oxfordshire County Council is controlled by one of the nation's most anti-car regimes, or more precisely, anti-private transport.

The county's roads are in disrepair and full of potholes; the Office of Highways and Transportation (OCT) blames the government for not providing enough money, but at the same time spends £4 million imposing 20mph limits that are backed solely by the cycling lobby.
