JetstreamJay
I have shared this in the "What have you done to your Merc today" thread, but I believe it may also be beneficial to put it here. I will provide any updates or solutions in due time. E350 CDi has the updated OM642 engine. EML activated en route to work on Friday. Successfully transported me there and back home, fortunately, without any apparent symptoms. Operated regularly, smoothly, without any knocks, responded well under moderate load, and emitted no smoke (did not attempt full acceleration). I presented it to my independent entity first thing this morning. It began adequately but exhibited hesitance in shifting gears. The vehicle shifts down automatically at approximately 3,000 RPM, while manual paddle shifting occurs at 2,500 RPM, and it does not exceed 5th gear with the 7G-Tronic gearbox. Otherwise, it seems satisfactory. I suspected the NOx sensor, but the mechanic disagreed, considering the gearbox issues observed this morning. I anticipate a call. BeardAndBeans
The gearbox frequently enters a protective mode, as you said, when an engine failure occurs. Best of luck with the resolution. π
JetstreamJay
An electric motor has malfunctioned. I could not comprehend the statement, but I believe it pertains to the exhaust manifold. It is possible that the swirl flaps are malfunctioning. The turbo must be removed. The repair will not be inexpensive.
MrTinkerFix
Invest approximately 10 pence in a 4700-ohm resistor for the connector associated with the motor; bridge the central two pins; issue resolved. The vehicle will operate similarly, and there are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. Examine fuse number 24 as well.

WordSnoop
Alarm What is the car's mileage, and have the oil cooler seals been replaced? Completing the SF motor would render it imprudent not to replace the seals, as it requires but a few bolts and an additional 20 minutes of effort beyond the initial 10. SilentSpanner
Why must the turbocharger (hot side) be removed if the issue pertains to the swirl flaps (cold side)?
