Compatibility of SIM Cards and Bluetooth in Automobiles

Greetings to everybody,

I just slipped a SIM card into the slot of my 2013 car's infotainment system, and all functionalities—calls, data, etc.—operated flawlessly. However, when receiving a call in the vehicle, my phone failed to connect over Bluetooth as it always does.

I am now enquiring if I may use my phone's Bluetooth while the SIM card is installed in the vehicle. Does the presence of a SIM card in the automotive system disrupt phone pairing, or is there a method to handle both simultaneously?

For the better part of a decade, I've had a SIM card in my 2015 S5 while I made and received BT calls. It was solely for usage with the SatNav that the SIM was there. This is why I think the SIM should have no effect on the BT-to-phone process.

Based on the flag in your profile, we will infer that you have a B8.5 model with MMI 3G Plus that meets US specs. Just so you know, AT&T discontinued their 3G data service in the US quite a while ago, rendering the SIM card in your MMI completely worthless. Whatever the situation may be, the built-in data modem SIM in US-spec vehicles has nothing to do with Bluetooth phone communication. Verify that the phone is still linked in the TEL Setup settings
