Mututing
Greetings everyone, I am experiencing an occasional problem with my MK5 Mondeo. Intermittent juddering, irregular idling, and engine stalling under load; often occurring shortly after a warm start, accompanied by the appearance of the spanner symbol on the dashboard, along with a "see manual" warning. Subsequent to the problem, the engine restarts without problems, and there is no engine management light on. The vehicle is undergoing a seat belt repair, and I requested about diagnostics concurrently. Quoted £132 for diagnostics. It seems quite costly to connect a device. I want opinions on how to do this more economically. Can a local garage read the same diagnostic codes as a large dealer? I downloaded Forscan onto a laptop when my MK3 had problems, but I never used it. Any insights or recommendations would be appreciated. 👍
Adv3nture
£132. It is likely accurate, since the dealership managing director is entitled to his substantial yearly Christmas bonus. However, I really lack any understanding!
Samuraisaint
Forscan is available for free download, with the first two months of the extended licence at no cost; the annual extended licence is priced at £11.93. When I attempted to access the tire sensor module, it prompted me to purchase the extended licence.
Bleakerje
The problem often indicates a blocked fuel filter; the only way to get a code from the vehicle is if the spanner icon appears on the display. If the icon intermittently appears while cycling the ignition, it is unlikely that any codes are saved. If it has not been altered recently, it may be the reason. As Mondy said, Forscan is absolutely the optimal choice. Significantly reduces expenses related to time and diagnostic fees to some degree. Adv3nture
I have just learnt that Halfords provides many complimentary tests (such as emissions and brakes) in addition to a comprehensive diagnostic assessment for £50. That amounts to £82, excluding the MD's Christmas bonus!
