Greetings,

I own a 1999 BMW 316i with an automatic gearbox. I purchased the vehicle in 2013 when it had 47,000 miles on it, and for the most of the last ten years, it has served as my mother's automobile. The current mileage on it is 78,000. There is a problem where I believe the vehicle enters "Get you home" ECU mode when it is cold, but functions normally after it has warmed up. The automobile has served me well, but I have recently acquired a new one.

I have come here seeking guidance on the process of selling it. What is its value? Where is the most optimal place to sell autos like these at the present time? Is anybody interested in acquiring it?

Of little value, advertise it on several inexpensive sales platforms such as Gumtree, Facebook, etc. If that doesn't work, consider auctioning it on eBay.A young man is offering a 220i for sale on e bay, which requires an engine rebuild. He is asking for a price of £3k, but, the vehicle has not yet been sold. Nevertheless, it is undoubtedly valued at that amount by someone.

Last year, I purchased a vehicle that was quite identical to the one I am referring to. It had a 64 plate, 60,000 miles on the odometer, a complete service history, and had been owned by two individuals. Unfortunately, the engine was in a state of disrepair. Invested around £5,000 on a used engine and other components, and received around £600 for selling spare parts such as the head, oil pump, and injectors. Ultimately, sold the automobile for £11,350. Also, there is a quick turnaround time of just 4 weeks.

It is likely that there is excessive end play in the crankshaft and a damaged piston.
