Assistance required! What are these objects?

I own a 2004 SL 350, and there is an outdated telephone handset located within the centre console lid. There are three tactile buttons on the driver's side wall of this panel, with a size sufficient for finger(s) to push. They seem to lack any discernible purpose, although it is evident that they possess or had a specific function.

Since you have applied pressure on them, it may be concluded that they are not the concealed or discretionary (code JB 007) ejector seats.
