Notef
Greetings everyone, I would much appreciate any assistance. Just acquired a 2008 BMW 123d that has been remapped. Cat eliminated. I wanted to restore the vehicle to its original condition, so I installed a new catalytic converter and replaced the straight-through exhaust system. Instantly, the automobile had difficulty in starting but eventually succeeded. The car operated well, but when returning to it the next day, it failed to start. The engine cranks but fails to ignite. The device was connected and many error codes were resolved, but the technician suspected a timing problem and chose not to continue with the repairs. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts? Thank you.
MundeDas
Have you made any modifications to the mapping to fit the catalytic converter/diesel particulate filter? What is the basis for his belief that it is a matter of timing?
Notef
Hello, friend. Negative. The intention was for him to restore it to its original configuration, but after connecting it and examining the error codes, he concluded that there was not a problem with the file. He believed that the timing chain had been fractured. I had driven the car back from the garage where the catalytic converter was installed. MundeDas
There is a potential occurrence on an N47 engine where the timing chain may fail abruptly. If the vehicle operated properly after the catalytic converter was installed, then the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor is unlikely to be the current source of the problem. Remove the cam sensor and manually rotate the engine to see whether the cam moves. whether it does, ask someone to synchronise the timing and ensure that it is properly aligned. Notef
Thank you. Upon fitting the cat, the individual saw that it was experiencing excessive turnover before to commencing. Entered abruptly beforehand. The car had previously been equipped with a timing chain. The vehicle operated well from the garage to its destination at home. I have parked my vehicle and it is now not functioning or starting. Will the chain not be broken for certain? I am uncertain whether these are outdated codes, however I had the following codes... Neutral position, calibration BSD notification The preheating control device is absent. Heating and activation of the fuel filter Activation of the oxygen sensor heater The camshaft sensor detects and transmits the signal related to the position of the camshaft. MundeDas
The camshaft sensor signal is crucial, and it might indeed fail suddenly. Chains experience the greatest amount of stress when they come to a halt and start again, therefore this might have been the last contributing factor. Remove the cam sensor. I believe that if you manually rotate the crankshaft, you will discover that the camshaft does not rotate.
Syncephe
I agree with the above statement.
Notef
Thank you. Are we considering the possibility of a timing chain issue or a faulty camshaft sensor?
MundeDas
A timing chain is a mechanical device used in internal combustion engines to synchronise the rotation of the crankshaft and the camshaft.
Syncephe
You are removing the sensor to visually inspect if the cam is being rotated by the chain inside its designated cavity.
Notef
Everything has been organised and arranged. The camshaft sensor's connection was damaged. Consequently, it had gradually detached itself to the point where there was no beginning. Exhale!
