OmahaKnot
The model of the car is SL400 from the year 2015. I am in the process of repairing the front emblem, but, I have seen the absence of the plastic "plugs" in the holes on my vehicle. I attempted to attach it using double sided adhesive, but, it is unstable due to the absence of support on the lower portion (as seen in the picture, resembling a smiling face). Could you provide guidance on the specific locations where I may get these items and the precise terminology used to refer to them? Greetings Alternate model displaying plastic "plugs" inside the apertures:
Lovelyas
Are there supposed to be outlets at that location? When I removed my insignia, there was no recollection. If your old symbol fits tightly, then your new emblem is incorrect if it is loose.
AmericaMonster
Emblem grommets may be obtained from a popular online auction platform, such as. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223799441619?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338181125&toolid=10001&customid=2518X1570512X75cc25d253ea95f0554e7a0afd72f7d5
OmahaKnot
The item fits, however it seems to be loosely secured, as it rattles when pressure is applied to the bottom half.
OmahaKnot
Thank you, I will attempt to use them.
Lovelyas
In my case, the "pegs" have two different diameters. I presume yours is also the same, therefore please consider this when purchasing the plugs.
OmahaKnot
Indeed, pegs do vary in size.
SushySosa
The mentioned model does not have any grommet type attachments, similar to my w213 model. The badge just slots into place without any additional components.
OmahaKnot
I have affixed it and it seemed to engage, but with a little amount of looseness. Perhaps this is within the expected range of normalcy?

Lovelyas
Is there any obstruction preventing the badge from being positioned correctly? Have you conducted a comparison of the undersides of both the new and old badges? Did the previous emblem remain in the same position and move back and forth? OmahaKnot
I did not get the previous badge that was removed for stone chip repairs at the bodyshop, and I am uncertain about its condition prior to the repairs. The emblem is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part and its intended placement on the vehicle is visible. However, there seems to be a significant gap underneath the two holes on the car's body, which raises concerns about the lack of support for the lower portion of the badge. Lovelyas
My one further recommendation would be to use more force when pushing, since it is the course of action I would myself choose.
Captiva
Alternatively, you may get a suitable thickness of adhesive double-sided foam and apply it underneath the middle of the insignia to further enhance its stability. Undesirable are 50,000 miles of unstable movement, causing damage to the paint and resulting in a corroded bonnet that requires repairs. Given your knowledge of your obsessive-compulsive disorder, Slarti, I am certain that you are contemplating this.
