Does the CX-90 PHEV engage the internal combustion engine (ICE) automatically when the battery charge level hits 0%?

I have not yet achieved a 0% discharge level for our CX-90 PHEV and I am curious whether, at that time, the vehicle would automatically transition to using the petrol engine and begin recharging the batteries via the engine. I have observed that there is an auxiliary battery present in the automobile, in addition to the standard 12v battery located under the hood.

Thank you

Affirmative.

When operating in exclusively electric mode, the vehicle will transition to petrol power once the battery range is depleted.

Nevertheless, it is important to note that zero does not really represent the concept of absolute nothingness. The car retains a battery range of around 20%.

No, the automobile will come to a complete halt and you will have to use the pull cord located at the front of the vehicle to start the internal combustion engine.

Just kidding. Apologies, I was unable to restrain myself.

Understood, I will not search for the pull cord.
Do the same principles apply to regular mode, which is the mode I mostly use? When the battery hits a certain low level, the controls in the sport mode activate the charging mode.

Just so you know, if you are in sport mode and you use cruise control, it will automatically revert to regular mode.

On very few situations, when the battery is completely depleted, it is still possible to enter sport mode even without any remaining energy for boost. I discovered this when test driving a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) that had been hardly used and was not well charged.

I found it underwhelming and unimpressive.
