NameInterest
Hello everyone, may someone kindly share their insights and expertise on fuel consumption? I own a 2015 E350CDI S model 4MATIC with a 7G gearbox and Adblue system. When driving on highways at a speed of 70mph, my vehicle achieves a fuel efficiency of 33 miles per gallon. Is this considered typical or within the expected range of behaviour?... I believe the price is quite excessive. What is your perspective? I have examined my diesel particulate filter statistics and everything seems to be in satisfactory condition.

w4rlock
I find it unsatisfactory. My previous W211 model would be in its forties. What are the prescribed actions for the automobile as stated in the manual? Is your thermostat displaying accurate readings?
NameInterest
Everything is satisfactory. The diesel particulate filter (DPF) is not obstructed, with a capacity of 5-7 megabytes at idling. The injectors are functioning well. I am uncertain about what to investigate further.
AmericaMonster
What is the temperature shown by the thermostat when it has reached its maximum operating temperature? The temperature should range from around 88 to 90 degrees Celsius. Are you obtaining the fuel consumption data from the vehicle's onboard computer or from a complete fill-up of the gasoline tank? Additionally, have you reset the fuel consumption reading?
NameInterest
My temperature reaches 95 degrees Celsius while heated. I conducted a comprehensive fuel consumption test by filling the tank to its maximum capacity and then measuring the gasoline usage. I found that my computer accurately records the fuel consumption data.
Grundysp
I own a previous generation S320 CDI with about 167,000 km on the odometer, and it achieves around 40 miles per gallon on the highway. Therefore, I anticipate that yours will surpass that. Nevertheless, my 2008 ML 320, which has a similar weight and engine, although a box-shaped vehicle with four-wheel drive, has difficulties in achieving a fuel efficiency of 28-29 miles per gallon on the motorway. This suggests that the four-wheel drive system may have a negative impact on fuel consumption.
Uneripty
I have seen that you are now located in Germany. I would want to inquire about the specific predetermined speed at which you do your fuel efficiency tests.

Captiva
I own a 2012 model year E350CDI with a horsepower rating of 265 bhp. Without the 4matic feature, there will be a noticeable impact. For long runs, such as those ranging from 50 to 100 miles, I often achieve the following: The vehicle achieves a fuel efficiency of 55 miles per gallon while travelling at a speed of 70 miles per hour. The vehicle achieves a fuel efficiency of 60 miles per gallon while travelling at a speed of 65 miles per hour. The vehicle achieved a fuel efficiency of 64 miles per gallon while maintaining a speed of around 58-59 miles per hour. The driver maintained a consistent speed in the first lane and avoided passing other vehicles, particularly trucks. By maintaining a gap of around two seconds behind trucks and using various techniques used by hyper-milers, such as avoiding braking and implementing all fuel-saving strategies, it is possible to achieve a fuel efficiency of 75 miles per gallon over long distances.
