VodScanner
I must admit that I have never acquired the skill of driving a manual gearbox vehicle. Throughout my experience, I have only owned automobiles equipped with automatic transmissions and electronic shifting capabilities. I have a straightforward question, which may seem foolish to those of you who have far more driving experience than me. Increasing speed and power may be easily achieved by upshifting from a lower speed, while gathering more power by downshifting from a higher speed is also a basic process for the same objective. I have confusion while I am in the process of fully halting. Is it necessary for me to manually downshift to first gear, or does the gearbox handle it automatically? I have always been unsure about the exact mechanics of how it is intended to function.
Maidaser
In technical terms, it is unnecessary for you to manually downshift since the gearbox will automatically do this action as you decelerate. The aforementioned statement holds true for upshifting during acceleration, except for Sport mode in Gen-1 and its presumed counterpart in Gen-2, which requires confirmation from a Gen-2 owner. If you neglect to upshift, the rev-limiter will cause the engine to rebound. When I approach a halt, I usually move down to 2nd gear, but I do not drop down to 1st gear. To downshift to 1st gear without causing any damage to the automobile, it is necessary to decelerate significantly. It is worth noting that the gearbox does not do this action automatically. Instead, it allows you to fully stop in 2nd gear before shifting down to 1st gear. Alternatively, you may just apply pressure to the brake pedal to bring the automobile to a halt, since the gearbox will automatically engage and perform the necessary actions. However, manually downshifting provides a more enjoyable experience.
Squirrrel
When using paddle shifting, I often downshift to first gear when I'm approaching a stop. However, it is important to do this while the vehicle is moving at a modest speed to avoid a sudden increase in engine speed, which may seem rather harsh. Nonetheless, a touch of drama can be enjoyable even when decelerating, don't you agree? Nevertheless, in the few instances when I neglected to downshift while decelerating, I believe the computer automatically transitions to 1st gear. VodScanner
Excellent, this successfully validates all of my attempts, which is fantastic. During the break-in stage, my main concern is to avoid letting the upshifting to occur too late in the RPM range. It is remarkable how much velocity and force can be achieved despite the constraint of a 6000 RPM limit.
HolyRoach
I will downshift using the paddles till second gear. If my speed drops below 5km per hour and I am aware of my speed, I will downshift to first gear. Typically, I let the vehicle to operate itself.
Cassole
Typically, I engage both paddles to shift into neutral when I am about to stop. Occasionally.
