Istairde
Electric vehicles (EVs) will be subject to excise tax starting in April 2025. Currently, EVs are exempt from paying any excise duty, but starting in April 2025, they will be required to pay the regular amount of £180. This video elucidates the process of delaying the unavoidable till April 2026. To proceed, you must have the V5 registered under your name and take action by March 30, 2024. m_campaign=other&utm_source=Skimlinks&awc=3790_1710847648_ae37e0d80171d14d4275f7f7ebe76a0a&dclid=CNCE7JKcgIUDFcteQQIdwGkBAw

Banman
If you fail to re-tax your electric vehicle (EV) this month, will it be possible to do so by the end of March 2025?
Istairde
As the video elucidates, if you engage in this activity this month, the present cost to you is nothing, therefore why not? They could impose a restriction on early taxation. My tax was first taxed in October, but I have now re-taxed it today, making it payable in March 2025, just before the anticipated increase in duty. Tactical
I hope that BMW EVs are subject to a double taxation due to their unattractive appearance.
baelicious
Excellent hack, eagerly awaiting the DVLA's response and reversal of the decision.
Messand
If there is already no taxation on electric vehicles (EVs), the government may simply distribute a Vehicle Owners' Document (VED) form to all EV owners in February/March 2025. This form would require all EV owners to pay VED starting from April 1st, regardless of whether they are presently subject to a zero tax rate. One potential limitation that may be identified is the potential challenge faced by the DVLA in managing the simultaneous influx of applications. baelicious
The application for VED at a cost of £0 is already required. eg The car, which was registered in April, will need payment in April 2025. As a September regular, I will not be required to make any payments until September 2025.
