Thinking of ordering a vehicle online from Carwin Transport advice needed!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking for a first car for my son and came across a VW Golf on Gumtree listed by Carwin Transport. At first I thought it was a private advert but it turns out they’re a company in Belfast who sell repossessed cars from UK auctions. They’re offering to deliver directly to my home in Bath, which sounds great, but I’m unsure about paying before I see the car...
Has anyone bought through Carwin Transport and can share how it went?

Not with them, but I’ve bought a Ford Mondeo at a repo auction in Manheim and it worked out really well. Just make sure to double check all the documents and do your research some offers look genuine others don’t.

They said they’re based in Belfast and people can book a viewing at their unit. It’s too far for me though so I’d have to go with delivery if I buy.

I went through them last month and bought a 2018 Peugeot 3008. They use a segregated bank account for payments, which really reassured me because the money isn’t released until you’ve received the car. My bank froze the payment at first for security checks, but once cleared, delivery only took six days. The car showed up freshly MOT’d and cleaned inside out.

A little more, but I rang them a few times, checked their Companies House number, and found other people mentioning them online. Plus the way the segregated account works made me feel more secure.

I bought a Range Rover Sport HSE from Carwin back in October the dlv was to Nottingham and took just over a week. They emailed me a breakdown of how payments are protected, which helped a lot.

At first I was nervous, but they were professional on the phone and explained everything clearly. I paid a £1,000 deposit, then the balance only once the car was prepped for dispatch. They updated me at each stage, prep, inspection, shipping, and when it turned up, it was freshly valeted with the paperwork neatly organised.

Honestly felt more secure than some forecourts I’ve dealt with.

Sounds good, but has anyone here actually tested their 10 days money back guarantee no question asked? That’s the part I’d want to be sure about.

Didn’t need to use it myself, but I asked about it before paying. They were very clear that you can return the car within 10 days for a full refund if you’re unhappy.

I actually stopped by their unit while I was over in Belfast visiting family and had a look at a Discovery 5 they had in. The staff were decent, no pushy sales chat, just answered what I asked and left me to it. I didn’t end up buying that day, but being there in person gave me more confidence.
You can see they’re first and foremost a logistics outfit, proper unit space, lorries coming and going, pallets stacked up so it’s not just a flashy website with stock photos. They clearly run a haulage business as well as shifting the repos, which made it feel a lot more legitimate to me.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Volkswagen Golf was delivered last night! Driver called ahead, everything was handled smoothly. Car is actually in better condition than I expected, all documents checks out, this thread really helped me make the decision.

Glad it worked out for you, mate. I had a Vauxhall Insignia from Carwin Transport a few months back and my experience was pretty much the same, driver called ahead, everything lined up perfectly. Always good to hear consistent feedback.

Happy days @Nekomp Reading this thread is giving me a bit more confidence I’ve been eyeing up one of their BMW X1 but was holding back because I’ve never bought a car online before.
