Dudeta
My insurance is set to expire at the end of the month, and I am obtaining quotations. My 2015 SL400 is equipped with a factory-installed "Magic Sky" panoramic glass roof, and I am uncertain if it would be protected in the case of damage caused by vandalism or an accidental impact. None of the online quotation firms provide an opportunity to pose this inquiry, and prior quotes from insurance agents with whom one could converse were much more than those from comparison sites. Has anybody installed one of these and can provide guidance, please?
Captiva
The only recommendation is to get written confirmation (by email or letter) of coverage and/or excess.
tr4s
Upon reading the original post, I contemplated just that—always get an email confirmation for any discussion or agreement. If I recall correctly, until a few years back, Aviva provided coverage for the panoramic roof of our vehicle, however there was an excess despite my having comprehensive insurance. Always enquire and get written confirmation, since I recall some other majors did not include panoramic roofs or classified them under "glass," which typically incurs an added charge. SlayNeo
Coincidentally, I recently sent a link to LV's FAQ in another discussion about trackers and decided to examine their information on car glass.

SlayNeo
They assert:Indeed, LV= car insurance includes comprehensive coverage for all glass components of your vehicle under the windscreen protection policy. Your windscreen excess is located in your insurance documentation. If you do not use one of our endorsed repairers, you will incur an extra excess charge for glass replacement. SlayNeo
This implies that your Magic Sky roof is protected against glass breakage.
Mututing
I own a glass roof in my Honda CR-V, and some companies declined to provide insurance; nevertheless, mine (Admiral) did so without any complications. It is reportedly a costly replacement, however all Honda 'EX' models of the CR-V come equipped with this glass roof as standard. This was the first time I encountered this problem.
