CrawlerTagz
I just purchased a 2016 TD6 with 68,000 miles on it. The engines have a pleasing sound and operate really well. I want to maintain the current situation to the best of my ability. I intend to change my oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. I am willing to pay more for my piece of mind. What kind of oil and filter do you use? Your feedback is much appreciated. I am researching the differences between 5w30 and 5w40 oils, as well as the distinctions between c1 and c2 specifications. BuffUpdate
I am now using 5w30 C1 oil and want to switch to LiquiMoly on the next change. I have a Mahle oil filter, Hengst air filter, Mahle fuel filter, and Mahle CareMetix cabin filter. The oil examination I conducted showed positive results after driving 9,300 miles (15,000km). I will be travelling 8,000 miles (13,000km) on the next trip.

Syncephe
I get my vehicle serviced around every 7,500 miles. Considering the book's need of about 16,000, I believe 7,500 is sufficient. I use a Fram filter and Rotella 5W-30 full synthetic oil. My vehicle has 129,000 miles on it and it runs well. Excluding the DEF mistakes I often encounter. An error message indicating the inability to restart the engine will likely appear when the remaining distance is 249 miles and decreasing. Remain calm. You will not be able to restart the engine, but you will have previously acquired a code reader tool to reset it if you are not near a dealer. You may either visit a dealer or inspect the injector yourself if you do your own maintenance. You can locate the discussions on these matters. This is a prevalent issue. Adv3nture
I recommend changing the oil every 5,000 miles at most to prolong the lifespan of the valve/cam and timing chain, benefiting their internal mechanisms.
Syncephe
I am consistently intrigued by Mrmerlin's statements. Assist me in gaining a better understanding of these engines. I had always believed that these vehicles are equipped with a timing belt rather than a chain. Mrmerlins response has left me very confused. Can you provide more details on Mrmerlin? CrawlerTagz
It has two tiny chains for the camshafts. It also has two timing belts. One belt connects the crankshaft to the cams, and there is a smaller belt at the rear for the fuel pump.
Authorce
Advanced version: The petrol engines are equipped with chains. The diesel engine is equipped with belts.
