Racerse
Is it safe to use a high-pressure water jet to clean a convertible automobile while taking care to avoid the soft top?
depofly
If you limit yourself to using a tiny household machine like as the Kärcher K2, then my answer would be "yes". With this apparatus, I have successfully cleaned both my MX5 and 124 Spider in the past, without encountering any problems. This includes washing out the hoods after a thorough cleaning session after the winter season.
Lovelyas
Maintain a significant distance between the nozzle and the automobile to ensure safety. Refrain from approaching seals closely or attempting to remove persistent markings, particularly on seals located around the hood, lights, and other areas. An inherent drawback of using a jet on a hood is the potential for permanent marking, even on black hoods. The high pressure exerted by the jet may also result in minute cuts in the fabric. If you are inquiring about the appropriate method, just use pressurised flowing water from the main supply to cleanse and rinse the hood. Your jet wash may contain a pass-through function that operates even when the engine is shut off. Exercise caution while selecting products, such as snow foam, since some ones may be unsuitable for use on convertible hoods. It is advisable to completely avoid such in order to remove the danger. Micobe
The nozzle used in a standard high-pressure vehicle wash will not do any harm to a convertible's fabric roof. If you own a personal pressure washer, it is advisable to use the nozzle designed for cleaning automobiles, rather than the one intended for creating holes in concrete surfaces. Bedelon
Seems reasonable. This is not my K7!
SushySosa
There is no issue with the K7. Simply reduce the pressure and use the appropriate nozzle. There is a vehicle symbol shown on the lance at the appropriate configuration.
Talentrews
Orient the jet in a manner that causes the water to slide off the surface instead of hitting the cloth directly. To ensure protection, it is recommended to use either Gtechnic Smart fabric or Renovo soft top cleaning. I have previously used Gtechnic on a Jaguar F-Type and found it to be really effective. However, it is crucial to promptly remove any drips on the car's paintwork, since the product solidifies into a clear varnish-like substance that becomes extremely hard to remove afterwards. Inquire as to the reason for my knowledge.
Mantelle
Additionally, is it advisable to bring a convertible vehicle with a soft top to a car wash when there are attendants present? Not a drive-through establishment. I do not own a jet washer myself.
AmericaMonster
Exercise caution when dealing with these "hand car wash" establishments. In one instance in Aylesbury, a professional high pressure washer was used in close proximity to the paintwork of the S204, resulting in the removal of a significant portion of the lacquer on the bonnet. Regrettably, I did not detect this damage until later, rendering it unable to return the vehicle for rectification. A bonnet respray is required to rectify the issue. Mantelle
Thank you for the guidance. I will personally do the task. I am aware of my concern on the matter.
AmericaMonster
By the way, when I had my convertible 968 with a canvas roof, I cleaned the roof using soap and a scrubbing brush. Afterwards, I dedicated a significant amount of time to thoroughly rinsing off all the soap with a garden hose. I never used a power washer on the roof. The Waves hand wash service available in our area was satisfactory for doing the bodywork. However, I took the precaution of closely observing and providing detailed instructions to the service providers before allowing them to work on either of my cars, starting with the S204 model. This ensured that they were aware of my meticulous standards, but they ultimately performed well. The other adjacent Waves mob are absent.
