  1. Regrettably, the vehicle accumulates fewer than 1,000 miles annually.
  2. I attempted to start my R8 today, and a low battery alert illuminated on the dashboard. The last occasion I operated the vehicle was one month prior. My radar detector issued a low battery alert, indicating a voltage of approximately 6-7 volts. In 2021, I swapped my original battery with another Audi battery, and the vehicle is consistently connected to CTEK. What factors contribute to the rapid deterioration of the battery? My vehicle has approximately 19,000 miles.
  3. A former contributor here owned a modified W211 E55, which he sold to acquire an R230 SL600. He appreciated the V12 temporarily, but promptly sold it and acquired another E55. Some of you may recall Tony, known by the forum alias Ginger E55, who was a frequent participant at MSL GTG events in the past. It was likely the apprehension of an exorbitant cost impending that convinced him the V8 represents a superior long-term investment for high-speed enjoyment.
  4. Any reputable tire establishment should be capable of resolving the issue for you.
  5. I encountered this issue. The solution included eliminating any debris from the rim beads and applying a swift layer of bead sealant. Has been satisfactory for two years now. I experience little to no pressure drop between inspections.
  6. Greetings, Could someone please inform me of the position of the crankshaft sensor on the 2008 B200 automatic vehicle? I have removed the air filter housing and cannot locate a replacement. Receiving code P0016.
  7. The PHEV will be somewhat heavier than the HEVs; however, I anticipate achieving a genuine 55-60 mpg on motorways without charging, provided one adheres to the speed limit, accelerates smoothly, and anticipates deceleration by coasting instead of braking (and, for clarification, I acknowledge that braking also recharges the traction battery, but coasting does as well). I would not cancel my purchase; these vehicles are exceptional.
  8. I have had same issue with previous upgrades. I just left the flash drive in the vehicle, and after 10-15 minutes, it began loading. Can you confirm that your device is the MY24 model and is now running software version 231102 (02 Nov 2023)? The only basis for my inquiry is the absence of an update for MY25.
  9. What is the procedure for activating it? I am curious whether the slot on my R171 SLK is as thin as an Argos brochure when the roof is down. I presume that it is only designated for SL, however I really hope that my assumption is incorrect.
  10. A battery may have a single cell breakdown, resulting in a charging voltage that is accurately measured while the engine is running but drops below the "Fully Charged" threshold level when the engine is turned off. The ECO-drive will only function if the "Fully Charged" status flag is set. However, it is worth noting that this specific kind of cellular malfunction might still allow the vehicle to start smoothly and there will be no indications of alternator issues on the dashboard or any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) being triggered. An exhaustive diagnostic examination should include a load test, which involves subjecting the system to a brief period of intense strain, imitating the stress experienced during engine cranking. Additionally, it is crucial to measure the battery voltage when the engine is running and all electrical consumers, such as the infotainment system, heated seats, headlights, and air conditioning/fan, are activated at a certain engine RPM. This is done to eliminate any potential issues with the alternator.
  11. When the boost is increased, it is possible for air to leak on the boost side. To check for this, a smoke tester is required to inspect the pipes. The diverter valve may be stuck open or slightly open, causing the leak. Additionally, there might be an air leak on the vacuum side of the tiny pipes, or the ends of the pipes may be worn out and not sealing properly. The common is located underneath the intake manifold, where a small tank and turbo controller are situated.
  12. I have previously experienced a PCV valve failure in my Rover, which resulted in various malfunctions. In a turbocharged car, the boost level is regulated by map sensors located both before and within the inlet manifold. When examining live data, you should observe two pressure figures: the actual pressure and the desired pressure. If these figures do not align, it indicates an improper amount of pressure at incorrect intervals. To begin troubleshooting, I recommend conducting a smoke test to identify any potential leaks.
  13. If the automobile is stored outside and not in close proximity to a main power source, a 5-10w solar panel may be connected to the OBD port, which remains active at all times.
  14. Utilise a free online VIN decoder to examine the Datacard of the automobile.
  15. I must confess that only yesterday I pursued a mouse out of my garage, and the first thought that crossed my mind was if it had been at the SL!
  16. Impressive job on the flywheel. I assume it was obtained from a comprehensive conversion kit, judging by its central appearance? The clutch plate seems identical to the one used in the sprinter, but it is assigned a distinct component number. It is possible that your clutch plate has more robust springs due to its origin from the 280 model. If you need a little less rigid clutch plate, you may consider using the van clutch plate. CIS also manufactures a 5-spring clutch plate, which is thicker than the LUK version. As a result, it requires some machining to the flywheel face. The reverse interlock mechanism is the only problematic component in such gearboxes when the factory shifter is removed. I experimented with many configurations before discovering a dependable solution.
  17. Rennsport offers a durable alloy flywheel that is compatible with the C36 ecu and can be obtained with the appropriate timing gear. Alternatively, if you are willing to tolerate the dual mass, the original flywheel is identified as: 104 030 10 05. I am unable to provide much assistance on the factory gear lever setting since I do not use it myself, as it is very imprecise according to my preferences. I strongly advocate use the configuration seen in an E46 BMW, since it can be readily modified to accommodate the Mercedes 6-speed gearbox. Please feel free to vocalise if you need part numbers for any of the items mentioned.
  18. This is how the C36 should have been constructed, and that is the main reason why it falls below the M3 of that era significantly. Driving a modified M104 with a 6-speed manual gearbox is a very engaging experience. The vehicle has a distinct character when you replace the automatic transmission.
  19. I strongly believe that these firms engage in outsourcing their labour, which is the reason why individuals often complain about receiving inferior items.
  20. Enter the realm of navigating through the majority of aftermarket body part vendors πŸ˜› I find it unsurprising that 1016 has included a disclaimer on their website.
  21. Based on my own experience, it is quite likely that aftermarket body components may encounter fitting problems, regardless of the company's assurance that their product is a straight bolt-on.
  22. Any dealer may simply evade responsibility by claiming there is clearly a stone chip problem. It was foolish of Mercedes to use beige liner and then paint it black. Why not use black plastic as before - those budget-conscious individuals.
  23. The following 8 series will not be produced since the whole line is being discontinued in 2025. They extended the M8 a couple of years from the first date I saw, planning to terminate it by the end of 2023. It is popular enough to remain in full generation, although there are indications that a hybrid version may be under development for the next generation.
