Mututing
Hello, I hail from Cheshire, United Kingdom. Regrettably, I have recently lost my husband, who possessed a 2016 diesel Evoque. During the most recent MOT, it was noted that a minor rattle was audible from the timing chain. The vehicle has travelled 67,000 miles. The replacement of the chain and related components incurred a cost of Β£3000. My spouse was unwell at that time; he just drove the car back from the garage and never drove again. He stated prior to his demise that I am It is presumed that you will retain the Evoque given the financial investment made in it. I appreciate the automobile; yet, I am somewhat apprehensive after reviewing the negative reports regarding the Ingenium engines. My emotions convey one message while my intellect communicates another. It exhibits an intermittent malfunction whereby releasing the accelerator results in the vehicle maintaining or increasing speed until the accelerator is pressed again. I am apprehensive that the chain may break again or that the turbo may fail. What should I do? I would like to retain it, but I fear it may become a financial burden. My vehicle is a Nissan Juke. Videoman
I regret to hear about your loss. Concerning the car, if the chain has been replaced, it should be in satisfactory condition, having resolved that issue, and should be reliable for the duration of your ownership. If the vehicle accelerates upon releasing the accelerator pedal, it is likely that you have inadvertently engaged the cruise control, which maintains a constant speed rather than decelerating when you remove your foot from the accelerator or when approaching traffic ahead. The 2023 Evoque is equipped solely with standard cruise control, not adaptive cruise control, which would adjust the speed based on surrounding traffic conditions. Was it exhibiting this behaviour prior to the chain replacement, if this is not the case? I propose calling the repairer; if that is not feasible, reach out to a local independent Land Rover specialist who can assist you. Indeed, the Inigium engine receives some negative attention, and the chain is a significant concern; however, that issue has been addressed, and an annual service should maintain optimal condition. I have owned mine for six years without any complications, but I did replace the chain due to noise, which has since been resolved. I experienced a leaky windscreen issue, which was resolved by my insurance, and my steering rack malfunction was fixed free of charge by Land Rover. Mututing
Thank you, but the issue existed before to the chain; it is an occasional error. It can last for days without occurring, and then it will. Additionally, I am alarmed by the local garage's report that someone had their chain replaced, only for it to fail again within a year.
Mututing
We also experienced a leaking windscreen.
Videoman
The chain should suffice. I am aware that the LR parts installed during my upgrade were superior to those originally fitted.
